Absolutely true - although she made no mention of not being able to stand - and I wasn't implying she'd enjoy it less. I just think her assumption that because there were seats, nobody would stand up was quite misguided. Would have been far better off on the tiered seating not on the floor.

yeah that is a bit silly on her part.

And I was just referring to Maynard really asking people why they're not standing etc.

Ah yeah, right. True again although it was basically half floor that was sitting until he told them they could stand 😅 I guess people being polite which was nice, but, again it's a rock show and as soon as explicit permission was given from upon high, it was over for her.

Can't beat this though.

Definitely

A lot of arena seating tickets say "those around you may choose to stand" on them these days. Not sure when they started doing that but it's clearly been an issue.

Yeah way back during Prince's run at the O2 a lady behind me asked if I was 'going to dance for the whole time'? Er yeah I am. Are you going to sit down for the whole time?

Am I the only person who didn't really enjoy the Macca set?! I was so looking forward to it as well, but for me it was a classic example of - it doesn't matter who is on stage, it's the people around you.

It was the only time during the whole festival where it felt like we were surrounded by people moaning.... it was like being in a crowd with a load of head teachers. One woman was moaning about people pushing past to get closer to the front. We were like...it's a festival, it happens. She said "in all my years of coming I've never seen behaviour like it" - honestly what a wolly. It was the most tame crowd ever.

Anyway, we were just in the wrong spot clearly but we ended up leaving and going to Arcadia where we had one of the funniest nights ever and made friends for life (even though we dont know their names and will probably never see them again, you know how it goes 🤣

I wasn't feeling it either, not because it wasn't good, but I think Caribou put me in the mood to go and have more of a dance so we did half an hour and then saw a bit of Megan then had a mooch around for bevs and popped in and out of random stalls/stages etc, before Four Tet on Arcadia. Probably my favourite night in the end. When you're not feeling something you have to make that executive call and most of the time it feels like it works out.

Kendrick had me absolutely transfixed though.

The Elton crowd may produce similar results. That Pyramid field, especially on a Sunday, can be a snarky place full of entitlement

Yes, got to agree with that. Folk seem to lay out the picnic rug, chairs even fold up tables around mid afternoon and  that does cause a bit of friction. Pre Ed Sheeran in 2017 we had arrived to see Chic and Biffy. Obviously a group had  set up weren’t interested and were waiting for Ed. Didn’t take too kindly to others having a dance , someone stood on their rug and were told curtly we are having lunch and we’re here first.! I burst out laughing. Might not be everyone’s favourite on here  but I enjoyed their reaction to Biffy fucking Clyro. It’s ok on a quieter time when there’s plenty space but not when it gets busy.

Some woman in front of me did it 5 mins before the Stones came on, real near the pit too. Tutting at people coming in and standing around her, sat in her chair.

Muttering "this is ridiculous" under her breath.

Think she expected to be abe to sit on her chair below for the duration.

Do people like this actually enjoy the festival or is it just a "bucket list" ticking exercise.

And how do they survive 5 days in what must surely be hell to them.

Yes that was the other thing...there was obviously loads of people with chairs for Macca, and they weren't sitting in them so they were just a trip hazard everywhere! Nightmare, not for me.

I was in the pit for the stones in 2013 and bloody loved it!

I am expecting Elton to be very similar so im just going to chill in front of the pyramid for most of Sunday so we can get in the pit nice and early for the best atmosphere, screw it...maybe I'll even take a chair 🤣🤣

Id argue that people like that dont enjoy life in general. She was almost daring people to stand near her just to give out to them. Her husband sheepsihly said "ok in fairness you need to stand up" kinda thing.

He looked like he lived in absolute misery.

I was towards the back for Kendrick because my exit strategy meant leaving before he finished (I know, first and last time I do that). I was next to a bloke completely out of it who kept trying to dance but not quite managing it. He also tried to let me know, over and over, that he really liked Kendrick despite not… being like him, resembling him, looking alike, etc etc. - every variation he could instead of just saying even though he’s not black. A bizarre thing to say at the best of times, but insisting on letting a stranger know instead of just watching the show was extra weird.

I went to see Depeche Mode and was seated but fully expected to be stood for the act. When they started and everyone stood up I got a tap on the shoulder asking me to sit down because we were in seats and the person behind now couldn't see. Had I been them I would have just offered to swap seats. I appreciate some people may book a seat because it really isn't possible for them to stand but it is a bit naïve to expect people not to stand during an act for certain types of music. Perhaps they need more categories. We tend to book seats these days because the whole standing in between acts can be a bit much but fully expect to stand up for the main act unless it's a quiet acoustic type act.

We largely had a decent crowd round us for Macca fairly near the front/left.  Plenty of people pushing past but everyone was polite.  The one exception being some tool trying to push to the front about 2 minutes before the show started when it was like sardines, whilst carrying 2 full pizzas on the box lids above his head.  Gave that twat short shrift and he fucked off again.

Don’t remember much about the crowd at Macca, apart from it being the most packed in I’ve experienced there. I reckon Elton will be about as bad as it gets considering it’s Sunday and he has almost universal appeal.

Spotted these gimps having a full on picnic before blossoms, they were fairly far forward which was fine for a while and there was plenty of space, but as it filled up before they started they valiantly tried to defend their wall of hummus and Moët from people trying to push through, until they eventually had to give up and pack up.

In the pit before Macca, note the people stood up are pretty packed in yet these other nobs seem quite happy sitting down.

Same before The Killers in 2019.

Much hilarity and cheering when a girl trying to get through just trod on the one at the front, they got up after that.

I had a go at this lot but just got a load of abuse from the stripey c**t.

Don't know where to start with this lot.

This is the issue I found with Dianna Ross, we were trying to make our way to our mates with plenty of time before she started but it was like a task from the crystal maze, but only because so many people were just lying and sitting down.

No offence, but give me the spangled loons in the south east corner or the crazy folk in the green fields over every single one of that lot, any day. I can just feel the sense of entitlement seeping out of those photos.

Totally agree, being one of those crazy folk and one of the spangled loons.

I barely go anywhere near "babylon" these days, takes something special e.g. Jay Z
