Also managed to get in early doors for this. Was a cracking atmosphere!

Can also see myself at 1.36 of this video (The bald guy with the backpack at the back, about 25 years older than everyone else)

ย

Yep, I was in there for that, Ed Solo, Deekline and the Born On Road lads, but to your right.ย

Pet Shop Boys were my unexpected highlight banger after banger.ย

Same.ย  I saw some great performances this year, but that was one hell of a way to close the festival.ย  Up there with the Cure in 2019 and Coldplay in 2016 for the best way to finish on a high.

Special mentions to Phoebe Bridgers and Lorde, both of which were very special performances for me.

My first time attending with someone else, for whom the entire experience was a gift, so I was slightly distracted by that. Heaven to be back again, but pangs of my first Glasto in terms of needing to get the most out of every moment rather than just relaxing and enjoying it in a more seasoned way.

Musical highlights: Wet Leg into Confidence Man. Nothing beat that all weekend. Perfect crowd (towards the front), perfect vibes. My first Fatboy gig ever, at the Gas Tower. Front row. Dancing with strangers. Beautiful.ย

Notes: forgot how attached I am to the green fields and speakerโ€™s corner. I love it there. Lots of crowd bottlenecks, poorly managed. Further back with a panoramic view is the best place to watch the fireworks. Never on the hill.ย

I thought last year was pretty perfect. ย Camping position was brilliant thanks to some friends who got their earlier than us, the music was great for me (Friday jam packed) and Macca on Saturday night was so so special. ย I can remember looking around thinking if this is the last time Iโ€™m lucky enough to get a ticket well.. Iโ€™m good with that. ย Also honourable mentions for the last hour of Noel, Olivia Rodrigo and Idles in the BBC Intro Tent. ย In all honesty not sure I saw a bad act all weekend.

The only dampener was a friend got ill and he was the driver so we left after Lorde. ย Shame to end it without a headliner. ย

Whilst it had a great lineup (albeit, not 2020 great. Now THAT would have been something), overall it wasnโ€™t my favourite, but I canโ€™t figure out why.ย

That said, whilst I have seen โ€˜betterโ€™ Macca performances, those (nearly) three hours on the Pyramid on that glorious Saturday night is, for now at least, probably my favourite performance Iโ€™ve ever been at. Iโ€™ve watched it many times since then and it never fails to astonish. The highlights come thick and fast, some of which were unexpected, such as Abeโ€™s antics, to an appreciative crowd, during Dance Tonight. Indeed the crowd for Macca played a huge part in the magic. Hats off too to these fellas, doing this during Ob-La-Di, although Iโ€™m glad I wasnโ€™t stood behind them

I wonder if you were a little like me. I definitely got "Paris syndrome" from such high expectations over lockdown it could never meet them.ย

However a personal highlight was for me was when we discovered out first time attendee Dr friend was really not very good at coping with crowds post COVID (yes it was the worst time to work that out etc etc) but I skipped Saturday lunch time bands to do a site wonder with them and being in the SE corner/craft fields with basically no people there I showed them all the cool stuff. It was a real highlight to be able to share the Glastonbury magic with someone that probably hadn't been feeling it yet.

It was my 5th Glasto, and unfortunately I struggled to enjoy it that much. I don't know what it was, but I had such an off time that I didn't even wake up for tickets this year. I'm hoping missing 2023 might give me the itch for 2024.... Or maybe I'm just getting old.

However, I discovered Turnstile there and I fucking love them now. Turns out an old mate is also a fan so we're going to reconnect and go see them at Brixton next year.

I wonder whether thatโ€™s the case after youโ€™ve got a few Gโ€™s under your belt. 2022 was my fifth as well and it didnโ€™t connect like the last couple. I put it down to a three year gap and company, but itโ€™s interesting hearing how it was just a bit off for others, especially when it came to crowd management.ย

I might have mentioned this before but taking a breather on Sunday late morning, I found myself beside a few people seemingly pretty senior behind the scenes, all agreeing that the high reaches of Glasto management were very unhappy with how certain aspects of this year were handled. I got the impression a lot of that had to do with Covid related staff churn, inadequate training mid-fest as a result, and things of that nature. Mistakes that I hope were pretty unique to 2022, or have been learned.

Jamie T making a comeback after 5/6 years in theย JPT felt really special to be a part of. Did choose him over Macca and have literally 0 regrets about it ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Same for me, except it was Mitski at the park stage. Absolutely amazing set and atmosphere was all the better for the smaller crowd, definitely one of the best headliners for me over the years

I definitely thought the general atmosphere this year was very different, however it was our first time with a kid and we didn't have our usual group due to clashes with postponed weddings etc. so that may have played a part.

ย

It was my 10th though, and never had that kind of feeling before, for me this years definitely didn't have the same atmosphere and feeling of pure rejuvenation that I usually leave with

Interesting that you mention The Cure as yes I had a similar feeling to when I saw them. Both bands I'd class as me having a greatest hits liking of rather than being a huge fan but both really, really impressed me.ย

Phoebe Bridgers was another highlight for me as well but how busy that crowd was and how I barely had room to move after being on my feet pretty much all day is probably the reason why I was wiped out by headliner time.ย

First time since 2017 and got the tickets last minute in the resale. Just the 3 of us with no big group so very different. Had a great time and lovely to see the penny drop with my daughter. Bimbled around the side attractions more than usual and less of the late night stuff. So missed some of the crushes.ย

Loved the music with so many highlights. Loved the Pet Shop Boys to finish the weekend. For me missing Diana Ross was a top decision and seeing Fontaines DC.ย

Roll on 2023 with the group back together and some new additionsย ๐Ÿ˜€
