I've just booked for 2023, we have never been before but fancied a change from Bearded Theory.

What do we need to know? Ive already messed up the tickets not realising Thursday was separate so had to pay shipping twice!

Nothing out of the ordinary tbh. Decent sized festival where everything works pretty well. Think it's digital wristbands for payment. Think it might be a good line up this year.

Jibbed the digital wristband but is contactless. Similar to the other mids, more stuff for kids than EOTR. Security pretty even handed, ale is fine but could be better really, got a bar run by Lancaster which is alright but with Thotnbridge, Buxton etc up the road could be well better. Stages go to about 3 then fire sit offs for the revellers.

We went last year - and always do Bearded.

We would never bother with Bluedot again. Everything that is good about Bearded is not at Bluedot. It is good, but not in anyway for us.

can you elaborate on some of the reasons why?

The was a sense of 'entitlement' among too many of the festival goers. Very middle class for a mini holiday rather than for the appreciation of music.
Camp site we were in had no loos - seriously. The nearest were inside the arena.
Huge amounts of sound bleed as stages are all very close.
Expensive beer. Hated being forced to use contactless.

Just no real feel of a decent music festival like Bearded always has had, If we were to do just one a year and wanted  a break from Bearded then it would be Beautiful Days every time.

Not saying Bluedot was not good - but we just found it to be lacking ion what we go to festivals for.

I'm heading to this for the first time too. Looking forward to it, have always liked the look of previous line-ups and it's only round the corner from us. Hoping for artists like Young Fathers, Dry Cleaning,  Daniel Avery etc. Could either M83 or Phoenix headline? They're both in Europe in July I see.

Sound bleed has been a consistent issue which they've never sorted. Having comedy/spoken stuff on at the same time as headliners in some tents was absurd.

To address the other issue, it's not a music festival in the same way as Bearded. I know people who go for the science talks (and that's perfectly valid) and see two or three music acts a day and still have a great time.

Awesome. Better than last year's headliners would you say? Like is there anyone there that makes you think "Wow, that's a good booking!" ?

there's almost no festival announcements nowadays  makes me think "that's a good booking"as they're mostly from the same narrow pool of bands.
