So where's his Firestarter / Hey Boy Hey Girl / Open Up / Born Slippy / Chime?

We've lost dancing

r.e. not seeing it everywhere like BOTA and Afraid To Feel, it came out in 2020 summer ago now

Those songs are both one hit wonders anyway probably, fred clearly has the upwards trajectory towards bigger slots

Plus it seems likely that he'll be with Skrillex & Four Tet. That's a pretty big draw.

Hope it's not JP as don't think the tent/field can handle the numbers...

Will do his own live set I think

will end up on arcadia or something with four tet and skrillex

Ngl if he was a rock act this forum wouldn’t be so conservative about his headline chances.

If he was a rock act getting this level of attention we’d be in unanimous agreement that he was on the headline track.

Far more rock acts reach the top than dance acts, it is fair.

Fred (probably) won't headline the festival because in 2023 a set that's just dance music isn't what people expect. Unless you have loads of crossover hits I just don't see it tbh.

Nobody thinks he's headlining the pyramid this year

Marea's pretty good like - but I dunno if it's an absolute monster well still be hearing years hence.

Can already tell that these songs will be nostalgic to his fans in 10 years time. I’d argue he’s writing and putting together modern classics.

It may just not be for you. I know it’s not for me. I know I’m not really the target audience.

I love his stuff and think you're still being ridiculous.

Hmmmmmmmm this Fred Again chap only hit my radar shortly after I actually got my tickets for next year, I’ve listened to his album and I’m sorry to say, this ain’t dance music as such and certainly not the type the people on here will recognise me for liking (he ain’t no KLF).

For me this is chill out music, cafe mambo, del mare, sunset vibes.

Good for that stunning Glastonbury sunset, getting everyone ready for the big dance act to follow.

That's unfair. Interplanetary Criminal is absolutely smashing it at the moment. Playing decent venues and B2Bs with the likes of Skream. Him and Eliza Rose aren't a permanent pairing so in that sense yes it's literally one hit, but it's not like he's been doing nothing since

If he’s headlining the other already I think it’s a v good sign that the festival is joining in on the hype

I mean conversely, when was the last time an act headlined Other and went on to headline the Pyramid? I’ll be honest I gave up looking after a decade, but in the process was reminded that Jake Bugg headlined it in 2014 FFS, so how much does it actually tell us?

It could have been Dua Lipa if 2020 went ahead.

Chill out music?

I’ve literally just listened to his first album again as replying on here in case I missed it. There is nothing like this on it. So is he doing a DJ set of other peoples music or his reworked, or will he be playing his own stuff?

Like don’t take it personal dude but he ain’t no Chems, Prod, Fatboy, etc etc

Almost all of this is his own stuff

This irks me. I’ve never said this. I’m merely taking a view on trends and where I see things going.

Some of y’all think the only acts that will go on to headline are those you like. You think that acts derivative of others can’t climb the ladder. When in reality, acts that make a career pulling some previous influences are way more likely to become headlining acts than the OG’s. Walking so they could run is a perfect way to phrase it.
