Chairs

After several years my wife and I are not doing Green Man in 2023 and Blue Dot appeals. However it seems that chairs are not allowed in the "arena" (I'm assuming that this is the area where the stages are). As I am now 72, I don't fancy standing up for several hours so I'd be interested in what other people's experiences have been regarding this and how they have coped.

I'd also welcome information on the journey from the Blue car park to general camping areas (and any hints on those areas). Thanks.

It can beĀ  a longish walk depending on where you camp but it is mostly flat and a lot is proper hard path. There are lots of volunteers around when you get past that, ask and they will normally help.

Thursday you can have chairs in the arena - and it means the entire place apart from the camping fields...... however, if you go to your car you have to be in what is deemed 'the arena' to get to the camping fields (check out the map and it wall make sense).

Lots of people kept chairs in their cars or told security they were going to put them in their cars and so there were lots with chairs in the arena...............Ā  but strictly speaking they are not allowed so you may be told to take it away.

Have you tried to talking to the access team at the festival. Sometimes, due to inclusivity they can be accommodating and grant access to bring a chair for age/health reasons. They dont always advertise it but its often worth enquiring. Othertimes, some can be a complete pain and insist on blue badge holders only. I have never been to Green Man and so can't comment on how strict they are.

"No chairs whatsoever" was plastered all over the BST info site and when we got there for Elton John they wereĀ everywhere. We were fuming because we'd left a family member out specifically because of that unenforced rule.Ā

If you go to something anyway that says no chairs, take a cheap one as a backup, because chances are they aren't gonna make a 72 year old throw away their chair.Ā
