Trussell Trust charity Auctions

I think the strategy is correct … they have appealed to those that can afford the hospitality versions …. Let’s face it they exist in plentiful supply and they’ve also done one for the less wealthy … if they had chosen 20 pairs of tickets for the raffle instead of 10 they wouldn’t have made more money for the charity so they are splitting their bets in 2 markets

I’m not convinced. Have one raffle before any significant announcements and then a second when a few names are out, but still ahead of the-resale. Ker-ching (for the charity).

immediate need for the Turkey / syria appeal  would have been significant in the amount raised

It wasn't the festival that held the auction, it was the Trussel Trust. GF just provided the prizes.

Exactly. Trussel Trust chose to auction their prizes - taking from the rich and giving to the poor.  We need more tax policies to do the same thing.

Oxfam’s disaster relief raffle fits their operation too - everyone giving what they can to help people in desperate need.

Both have raised some serious money so it’s all good with me.

Too much sense spoken for this place my friend.

That's what I imagine, but I'd probably be just as happy throwing it back in the pot.

You could create a registration and claim the prize for you a guest, and still get in on your staff pass. I doubt very much they'll be checking if you actually used the ticket you won to get through the gates (and even if they are, you can go back out and use it!)

They would’ve easily made more money, the raffle has already made four times the auction. The first charity have been shafted by having the proceeds for the auction rather than a raffle, 20 tickets raffled and split between the two on two separate dates would’ve undeniably made more money than any auction.

A raffle for twice the tickets wouldn't raise twice the money. Two separate raffles might raise more, but at this point, for all we know they are still doing that.

"They should have had a second raffle after the poster is out" - well maybe they will.

Yeah right, they just handed over tickets and bizarre add on prizes, no questions asked? Of course Glasto have a say in what happens to them, otherwise they could be distributed at a neo Nazi convention.

Yes, Trussel are well known for their work with neo nazis. Ffs.

Bollocks. The raffle has done so much better, that 2 raffles spaced nicely apart will have definitely done better than a raffle and an auction. You can argue with the stark discrepancy between the two.

Doing well here with language … have you just got out of bed ? … a bit further on in the thread I aknowledge the error but totally standby the huge and amazing amount raised being because of the pressing need in turkey and Syria as well as the want for Glastonbury prizes

How do you know it's not 2 raffles spaced nicely apart and an auction?

This is why snorting coke on your lunch break isn't clever

Dumber than saying Glastonbury didn't have any input on what would happen with the prizes when it's all being done in their name? 🤔

It's very easy to be right when you're arguing against a point that literally nobody made.

Well no, presumably Trussell asked GF to donate tickets for a fundraising initiative. How they use those tickets to raise funds is up to them.

You're trying to paint it like GF had some major say in how Trussell operates, when that's blatantly not the case. They are a relatively small charity who fundraise by selling on eBay.

Ultimately you're getting very angry about something you don't seem to fully understand.

Obviously an exaggeration to get a point across, but dwell on it to avoid admitting I'm right if you want.

Couldn’t give less of a shit mate.

You need more than a couple of brain cells to give a shit. Especially when it's about raising as much money for charity as possible.

Thank you for your considered reply.

Have a nice weekend.

5,000 to 1 then. About the same as on ticket day.

By the end of the raffle it will probably be about 10,000 to 1 if they are lucky.

Don't care what the odds, I think it's brill to have another chance of getting tix...unlike on ticket day at least if I (when I) win the raffle there won't be a webpage of gobbledygook where my bank details are sent into the ether only for the page to crash and those tix then given to someone else.

I also get to have the full ticket day experience of spamming refresh on my email client come the draw on 15th March 😆

I'm toying with the idea of putting in an additional entry via the post just to surprise them.
