Hugh Jass II
Main memory (or lack of) of 2017 was getting absolutely rat arsed in the run up to Radiohead much to the annoyance of my heavily pregnant wife who had to put up with my nonsense. She hates Radiohead too, so having to be sober and stand through them whilst I’m battered and loving every minute was not a vibe for her. The next day, as penance, she made me and my massive hangover suffer through Craig David.

It was so hot, I missed sets from acts I was looking forward to seeing just to crash in the cabaret tent or some shade somewhere. Or was that 2019? I’m not sure. Both contained scorchers. I think it must have been 2019 as 2017 was perfect once the festival started. Wednesday and Thursday were very hot and I worried it would be too hot but it dropped about 8-10 degrees on the Friday and was absolutely perfect festival weather. It really was the best festival. Didn’t see anyone until Johnny Marr at about half five. Everything else we wanted to see before that was sacrificed.

TBF Mrs J was bored as well but too tired/pregnant/stubborn to trudge anywhere else.

My friend is not a fan of Ed Sheeran and yet that year she also inexplicably ended up watching him and said she must have been very drunk because she ended up crying watching him (never been able to determine if they were happy or sad or just tired and emotional tears) Weird things can end up happening at Glastonbury. I think that Sunday night was the night I ended my festival in the circus tent watching a wonderfully hypnotic hula hooper.

drunk pumpkin
2017 was without doubt one of my favourite years. This is despite leaving my tickets in Liverpool and having to drive back to meet someone to get them (long story!) My musical journey that year was dictated by my youngest but the highlight for me was the Foo's on the Saturday. I too loved the Chic show (also watch the headline a few years ago) Both my girls at the festival with me but my youngest staying with my on Pennards who at the time was only 13 we had such an amazing time together. Can't beat Glasto memories!

Followed by more reggae till the sun rose to signal the end of another excellent Glastonbury. Great summary Skip. Was interested to read this bit above too - Does Shangri-La often have Reggae on? Great news, if so.

There's the occasional reggae band on the Truth Stage, last year had Hollie Cook and Horseman, which was superb. There's not enough Reggae at Glastonbury since we lost The Gully and The Blues. LoveAndTheft
Arrived on the Wednesday and the heat was brutal. It cooled a fair bit by the next day but was still damn hot! Highlight included Kae Tempest (mesmerising), Sleaford Mods (stunning), Barry Gibb (entertaining) and Cinematic Orchestra (chilling). Shame the Can Project cancelled and Toots arrived too late! paulshane
My recollections of 2017 are already a bit foggy, but I do remember that the planets aligned and a load of my friends also managed to get tickets, so there was always a decent drown of us when we could decide what to watch 🙂 checking the line up, I'm pretty sure I saw amongst others: (almost certainly something on the thursday) Friday: Hacianda Classical Ride Sleaford Mods Flaming Lips Sat: Katy Perry (so much fun 😄 ) The National Foos Sun: Dropkick Murphys - weird gig, I've been a fan for decades, got many albums, but I didn't recognise a single track, very loud though) Chic Justice plus The Hillage, but can't remember when 😄 and plenty of dj sets some pics: Hot on the Wednesday: West Holts Crew bar. before it opened (friend helped put it together, and I lugged a few things there helping out) System &: rain! but it soon dried out: then time to go home
