Families will not be allowed in the notorious after-hours south-east corner after 10pm

I hope that. as others have said, this is more aimed at the pushchair end of childhood!

Difficult to see how they can have this both ways - when you turn 13, you need your own (full price) ticket.  If that doesn't let you go to the SE Corner at night - why are people being asked to pay for the full experience if they can't have it?

Would make sense if people are screened on entry via the "night" entrance route - checking for people with wristbands vs 12's and under who get in free.  I can't imagine they'll be doing 18+ ID checks anywhere!

It says families, not under 18s right? We're just reading in to it. Technically kids are allowed as long as they're not with their parents!

I do think it'll just be under-13s that won't be allowed. I don't think they're trying to exclude teenagers.

(Given the stuff going on the Circus and Mavericks after 10pm, it can't be content-related if that's Emily's alternative suggestion!)

My daughters will be 32 & 29 this year... They think Dads should be banned.

I'm somewhat old yet the general response I get from the youth when dancing in the early hours in the SE corner is very positive.

They tend to love an oldie showing them up on the dance floor.

They did previously say "Parents should be aware that some adult-themed entertainment & artwork can be found at the Festival – in particular in the South East Corner, but also in other areas. Please refer to the programme and app where possible and exercise caution where appropriate."

Plenty of my friends are judging me for taking the kids to Glastonbury already full stop... they've never been of course.

Let your friends know that just the family friendly parts of the festival make Glastonbury the largest kids festival in Europe.

I deffo interpreted it as people taking strollers and pushchairs and having toddlers on their shoulders through the SE corner late at night - i think it's a crowd control issue more than it is for the morality of what the kids may or may not witness. I also think that last year's was probably had an exceptional number who had tickets in 2020 but then had a kid in the intervening years and brought that child along - i can't see there being as many pushchairs this time around.

I believe one of Emily's kids was run over at the festival last year amd received a broken limb. Not at the SE corner but it maybe has made her more aware of the potential dangers for small children.

Not only Glastonbury but at other festivals also, I have seen more kick offs with shiters parents dragging their tired kids around the festival and getting into heated exchanges with other punters than any other type of kick off.  A group we know loosely from back in the day ended up in the police cells following such an incident at Bearded Theory a few years ago when such an incident escalated and one of them ended up chinning a steward.

A very ugly situation which was ultimately because of their constant putting their needs in the front of the youngsters.  And too much ale and beak.

its a no brainer isn't it and does not need a massive debate (that i am also adding to).  Surely anyone trying to take one of them cowboy waggons or a push chair anywhere near the SE corner later on needs to go and have long hard word with themselves.

*Police cells in Derby.  Not a containment on the site

People actually push toddlers around the SE corner at midnight? WTF is wrong with people. As if a child wants that. Selfish twats.

Teenagers fine.

bang on

even a 8 year old had just woken up its still not a suitable place for them to be taken - loud music, people far too wonky etc. plenty of far better places for young children to go

Personally, I'd be more worried about my teenagers. No way I'm letting my two loose in there under 18!

Not sure what Glastonbury is coming to with 'rules' like this.  Our son, now 22, certainly wandered around the SE corner with us when he was under 12.  We often used to head to the Strummerville fire before it was moved.  And there are plenty of kids under 12 in the crew camping in the SE.  I'm beginning to think that some of the more judgmental commentators on here would be better off at Proms in the Park.

Interesting.. Could steward mean medic? And said medic happened to be be pretty capable and took the guy down? In which case I saw it first hand.

Otherwise there's been more than one very similar event there - which is surprising given how rare trouble is generally.

I'd suggest you're doing similar tbh, broadening your point to things which aren't under discussion.

I wonder if they might U turn on this?

Does anyone else remember the email they sent out before Glastonbury 2013 stating that people would only be allowed to bring alcohol in with them on first entry and it could be no more than you can carry in your hands? Then they sent out a 'clarification' afterwards saying actually you could just carry on as normal but they'd encourage people to drink responsibly?

More than likely mate. Group we know from Sheffield were in the thick of it.

Lots of contrition and hand wringing the next day but the damage was done.
