Nottingham has Splendour and Dot To Dot, Derbyshire has Bearded Theory, Y-Not and Download (on the border but a Derbyshire postcode)... does Leicester/Leicestershire have anything?

it has the wife-beating kasabian.

Not sure why the postcode is relevant - the vast majority of the Download site is in Leicestershire - just a campsite and some parking across the border.

Glastonbudget is apparently still going as well.

Fair point, I actually couldn't remember where the site is and realised I could stretch it to prove a point. Leicestershire also has 110 Above, which appears to me to be an attempt to do a Superstruct-type mainstream-indie festival on a low budget. Point remains, though, that if you want something non-specialist with artists people have heard of the rest of the east Midlands has it sorted.

West Midlands has Supersonic, Moseley Folk Fest & Godiva and some ~day events in Birmingham that look much like Dot To Dot, but nothing like the "big cities".

I was at Summer Sundae & Lunar Festival a few times and a recurrent theme for all these events is a crowd often much smaller than capacity but dedicated attendance.

West Midlands have always struggled with festivals, and making them a yearly festival. They had V fest but other than the folk festivals that do well, there is not much happening. Even Wireless is hit and miss, they sometimes have it and sometimes they do not.
