It's a tricky one as to my knowledge if you want an early coach to the festival it means you also get an early coach from the festival. From memory last year my friends got a 5:00am coach from Cardiff but their return was 5:30am.

Nothing to stop you making your own way home if you can arrange anything though I guess.

One is before the festival starts and one is after a 5 day bender you'd think they would probably give you a few more hours, pretty sure I was still out at the stone circle at half 5 last time round.

Oh yeah I totally get your point.

Do you have any other friends at the festival who are driving etc you could go home with instead?

My brother and his girlfriend were lucky enough to get tickets in coach resale but will probably come back on our minibus as we have space for 2. Makes things a bit easier for them and also splits the cost for us lot a bit further too.

My coach from Oxford last year was Weds 6.15am departure and a 5.30am Mon return....one of my friends was on a coach from Reading that he got in the resale that left Weds 3pm and left 8.30am Mon.

I think if we had a mole at See Tickets, none of us would have needed coach tickets 😉

Amazingly I’ve been persuaded into these tickets now after many many years not trying for them .  There’s a diffence with knowing the coach time release date and the wizardry of being able to get tickets

Did you get a coach ticket this year?

This will be my fourth time on the Taunton coach. I've always had more success this way.

I did the coach once in 2015 then not again until last year, and I'm doing so again this year.

I think its my preferred method of entry, however I am helped by the fact that other friends of mine on GA tickets sort out camping spot out and take my booze and camping chair for me.  If I was doing it all myself, with tent, chair and alcohol and no advance party for the camping space I might have a different view!

We’ve no advance party this time so the early bus is crucial . I do like to return to the tent during the day for resupply and sometimes a nap or lie down if my back is struggling  so really don’t want a tent on the perimeter . Luckily whatever time we get the journey time is short , and they do seem to have sorted the carpark queues out now so shouldn’t get caught in those … obviously 2016 was an exception

Given you got your ticket in the initial sale you should be ok for an early coach.

I have a bad shoulder from a car accident years ago, I struggle with backpacks etc for long periods of time, big queues, lots of stuff on my arms etc.

Luckily with a workaround I can usually minimise that, but there will probably come a point where I either migrate to something like Sticklinch or I give up going all together!

Yep wed coach 🙂 got in myself fortunately

I'm amazed more people don't pick up on the "local" coach option. Driving from your home, parking in Bristol or Taunton and picking up the coach from there increases your chances of ticket success and still allows you to drive the rest of the way home

If it helps it can be an idea to get off the coach and if you have a heavy load drop some bits at the property lockup closest to the gate. Then get your tent up and go back for your big bag.

I hadn't thought of that! Luckily this year I'm sharing with a mate who has a GA ticket, but that might be useful for the future.

Last year we packed up Sunday PM and stored our stuff at PGA thanks to @clarketehelpful tip. 🙂

I'm trying an alternative solution to help with that problem this year. I picked up a lightweight trolley which is now strapped to my bag. When I need to give my shoulders a rest I can pull the bag along. I will be carrying the bag when the ground conditions aren't suitable for wheels.

Interesting! Let me know how you get on. 🙂

That's not to say that plenty of us didn't fail to book others on those same journeys - just in case anyone sees your comment and thinks it's a walk in the park.

First time on a coach for me, on it solo as well. I do have various friends on GA tickets setting up, so hoping I'll still be fine for a space if I'm on an afternoon coach. We've purposely agreed to camp a little bit further out, it's always been Oxylers in previous years.

If it is a PM coach, I think I'll push my luck and see if one will do the honours with my tent - if I carry something else of theirs in return 👀

We have never done coach before but after the heartbreak of missing out last time we decided to roll every dice possible.

I tried again for a few people in the main sale this year too and didn't get a sniff so glad we tried.
