Honestly, with their activity now, I think they're an excellent sub shout.

Charli XCX, Noah Kahan and Pulp to sub.

Chase and Status, Biffy Clyro and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to top the Other.

Push the Bad Seeds up outright if somebody bails, because @Superscally has control of the farm's water supply.

Hey presto!

Would expect a more diverse set of headliners to be honest.

Need Charli on other as well 🙂

Only @Superscally can answer that.

But perhaps say your prayers.

I can only fully answer that question @charlierc once you've listened to this and give your opinion...😘

It was quite something tbf when I heard the original Red Right Hand compared to the AM version and it is hilarious how far apart sonically they are. Though I guess at least I was aware of the song before Peaky Blinders pinched it.

As someone who came across Nick Cave late and initially didn't get it, I can fully get that!! Once I'd gone down the wormhole though, I realised that in terms of just..musical excellence, him and the Seeds are just something else. Live - it's a step up again.

Try this EP

Jubilee Street in its Skeleton Tree-era live form is just outrageously good.

Anyway, ahem. Back to Pulp.

Pink Glove is a top three song. Discus.

Pink Glove is Epic....    It think there most underrated gem is Like A Friend thank f that found its way into the current setlust from missing the cut for Hardcore (though I think its now the final track on newer copies)

Having lost any confidence in this happening at Glastonbury, it's worth pointing out that they didn't have a "UK Festival exclusive" tag in 2023 or 2024 either and still didn't turn up. Even when the Festival needed to find a replacement headliner relatively late in the day.

Really don't think that it's possible to read much into this.

I didn’t think they would do Glasto in 2023 as I thought it was weird to do something so high profile and televised before their biggest dates in July.  They did IoW of course, but only televised three songs I think. I assumed they’d do Glasto in 2024 as the tour cycle ended, but they’ve ended up being busy all over the world this year instead.  From what Mark Webber said last week, it seems they are doing a final run of shows in the UK next year, so Glasto would make sense. I can’t see them never playing Glasto again, so it really depends on whether they want to hold one last big slot back for a few years time if they do another comeback. Obviously I don’t want to gets peoples hopes up based on such little info, but personally I’m feeling quite hopeful - certainly way more than I was a week ago!  They are doing UK dates, Jarvis is a festival regular, and it’ll be the 30th anniversary of THAT Glastonbury set… makes sense to me!

It makes sense to me as well - but the fact does remain that aside from people commenting on how much sense it all makes, there's not been even the slightest whisper that they're actually going to do it.

Do we ever get that many serious whispers of acts lower down the bill? I know one occasionally sneaks through, but seem to feel it does gravitate towards the trio at the top of the tree.

It varies, but would definitely expect so in this case.

We've certainly had claims regarding WH headliners for next year for example.

Wouldn't be opposed to that. Do imagine it will factor heavily into the Tramlines performance, so if Pulp are indeed knocking around at the farm, would like to see it get a nice spot on one of the larger installations.

But perhaps that robs it of the intimacy of the whole affair. Hard to say.

  • 3 weeks later...

Pulp have just announced on Fecebook that they've signed a record deal with Rough Trade - so obviously a new album at some point.  Don't know what this means for Glastonbury... if an album is ready and out soon-ish then Glasto this year is a strong possibility, given we know they are doing more UK dates.  But if album is more likely for 2026, then they might be saving Glasto for 2027, at the end of an album touring cycle (rather than the end of the "encore" cycle).  Argh..!

Amazing stuff, they wouldn't do a new album if they didn't really believe in what they're doing. Looking forward to see how this all plays out!
