Any sign of Pulp yet?

Pulp headlining Other doesn't make much sense to me. If Pulp did Other they would be taking an awful lot of people away from Pyramid. That might be positive if up against a superstar like Madonna and you want to crowd control, but its probably much less desirable for anybody below that level, both for the festival and the competing artist. Makes more sense that they would sub.

Also, Pulp are quite a bit older than most Brit-pop bands so could maybe do the legend slot?

Fully believe they can headline if they're alongside two female global superstars

Yes they'd be the weakest Glastonbury headliner in recent times in terms of magnitude, but they'd be balanced by the other two headliners and they'd also be cheap.

They also have a history with the festival other bands of their current size do not and while outside Glastonbury they may not be as big as they were, I am sure they'd still pull a big enough crowd at the Pyramid

I really don’t think they’re in line to headline the Pyramid, but an argument could be made for the other slots:

Would make a great Pyramid sub and deserve a shot at that stage again before they pack it in, although they’d be a bigger sub than we usually get.

If we’re still getting two female acts headlining (and assuming they’ll both be pop-leaning) then they’d make a great counter act on Other one night.

Or if the festival is gonna continue with the big ‘secret’ acts on the Pyramid, then they’re an obvious contender after being absent this year.

They would be good for the legend slot to be fair, its bigger than pyramid sub and they are defo old enough

This isn’t a bad shout. Could see this happening. Definitely got the old bangers required.

Pulp, Dua and Madge would be great. Really not getting this "are they big enough?" chat.

Me neither, they were one of the defining bands of the Britpop era easily and have the songs to smash it - their recent shows have really good production which would be totally lost in broad daylight so a nighttime set would suit them perfectly

They feel very glastonbudget to me honestly

I'd love to see them regardless but they are pretty naff as a headliner

especially on the second year of their comeback - not even with new music

even on their first comeback they didn't headline Reading outright, really can't see how they are considered by some as an excellent choice ... more of a fallback option that would please efests

Because they'd draw a good sized (not the largest, not the smallest) crowd to the Pyramid, knock out a 90 minute set that was full of songs that everyone in the field knew and loved, and send the audience home happy.

Sometimes, it doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.

If a band can headline IoW and sell out Finsbury Park surely they can headline the Pyramid. What else do they need to do ffs?

Headlining IOW these days does not automatically put you as a Glastonbury headliner, IOW is not a major sized festival anymore. Liam Gallagher did Finsbury and IOW and subbed Glastonbury.

It’d please me.  Bring it on. 😀

I love Pulp, and that gig at Hammersmith earlier this year was fantastic, best gig I've been to this year, hands down, but if I were GFL, I'd be looking at them subbing rather than headlining. It's purely a nostalgia exercise for the faithful.

IOW is a mid sized fest these days, headlining it is just not enough to be a glasto headliner

There's no debate whatsoever as to whether or not Pulp would put on a career-defining, powerful, emotional, highly entertaining and memorable Pyramid headline show. It's Pulp.

I don't feel they'd be offered the chance to do so by the powers that be at GF.

I don't think they'd be in with a shot on a regular fee basis but the fact thr history with the festival means they'd probably do it for a lower price, in a time where money is clearly going to be tight...

I mean, I think there will be one "dissappointing" headliner this year. Unimaginative, not that relevant, played before. If you can make that Pulp, then knock it out the park with the other two, you've done well.

Neither of these things mean an artist/band is big enough to headline the Pyramid.

IoW had Robbie and George Ezra this year.  Lewis Capaldi wasn't even a sub on the Pyramid.

Artists/bands selling out Finsbury/Hyde/Victoria park with their own fans doesn't translate to Pyramid headliner either - see P!NK, Lana Del Rey, Blackpink, The Strokes, Billy Joel and so on...
