Arriving late on Wednesday

I can't get the day off on the Wednesday so realistically I'm not going to get on site until 8/9pm at the earliest.  Usually we're on site by 9am and the campsites are already starting to get busy so I'm a bit worried about ending up having to camp by the toilets, on a hill etc.

Can anyone provide any reassurances that there'll still be some decent camping spots available or perhaps I should just bit the bullet and pay £700 for Tangerine Fields? At least that will take the stress away, its giving me anxiety now and its still weeks away!  There's only 2 of us, sharing a medium size tent.

I guess my main suggestion would be to aim to arrive at the West of the festival, as the nearest camping fields to gates B & C (Pennards, Big Ground, Kidney & Row Mead) will all be very busy and you probably would end up by the toilets 😄

There is plenty of space left, and one medium tent should be able to squeeze in somewhere decent if you are bothered to look a bit further into the festival.  Standard advice would be to visit a Campsite Steward Base and they will be able to advise, but if you want to be a bit more central you could try going slightly inwards from what they'll advise, and see if you can find a patch for your tent.  They start saying that a field is full as soon as it starts to look busy I think, but a bit of exploration would still be worthwhile.

In 2013 we couldn't make it until Thursday evening.  We arrived to the West of the site and just found a spot in the field directly inside gate A (I think that was Pilon back then).  It was getting late and we weren't bothered to trek any further with our stuff - acres of space in that field so I can imagine on Wednesday eve you could be more ambitious than we were.  Way further out than I normally camp but still had a great festival - I think the stress-free entry (not having to get up early, not having to queue etc) helped massively.

I'm wondering how likely it is to be able to fit in a group of 4 tents in Paines Ground any later than midday on Wednesday. only ever volunteered but can imagine that its very popular, everyones campsites I've been to in the past have been in that general area. (@p.pete those places you mentioned must be around that area but can't see them on the map)

we have coach tickets but obviously could be any time of the day!

edit: sorry I see them now on the map!

I think I camped in Paines in 2009 - it filled up steadily that year as far as I can remember, but midday was probably fine 😄

A few years later I had some friends who were just beyond that in Baileys, and that seemed a really nice spot (though starting to get a bit far out).  Map announcement will probably be very relevant for Paines - if they change anything up based on last year's Arcadia congestion, plus will there be extra camping space with Carmageddon removed?

Probably a struggle at midday to find a spot big enough for 4 tents to fit right next to each other, but maybe not impossible?  Long trek from gate A!!

Almost like I made the map appear 🙂  If ye get a good pitch then it's worth the trek.

I remembered after I posted that 2009 I had arrived by train, so gate A arrival too - friends who'd arrived through gate D picked the spot and we just arrived and found them.  I don't actually remember getting from the gate to the tent, can't have been too big an ordeal!  You end up doing worse walks, carrying more stuff, when you arrive by car tbh.

Not a clue I'm afraid - plus they need to fix the map to show if you will be able to walk down through the Pylon field which they've currently marked as all crew camping.  When do you find out when your coaches are?
