I think it's likely now the site hasn't been bought or at least no money had changed hands. There's no way a new owner who has paid any tangible amount or is contractually obliged to would allow anything like what's been going on in this thread...

What's wrong with saying 'Hi CrazyFool, thanks for arranging a meet - no offence to you but I'm going to label this as an unofficial meet, as I don't want people confusing the two! See you at the festival.' though? It costs nothing to not just blatantly insult your userbase, especially users like CF who by all accounts is a stand-up, helpful bloke.

The amount of pushback this is getting is unsurprising, threads like this are far more damaging to the brand than an 'unofficial' efests meet would be IMO.

It's all a bit unfortunate. Neil is an absolutely lovely guy and has the best intentions - truly. He loves this place and is very protective as Ommadawn mentioned earlier. However, I do think better communication and a friendly approach will go a long way in the future.

Maybe if the thread title had contained the word 'Unoffical' and held somewhere else, it mght have made it clear it wasn't anything organised by Neil.

Having said that, I don't know what was said in private (if anything) between Neil and Crazyfool01 that might change my view and I certainly appreciate Crazyfool01's efforts in helping to keep this forum together over the last few months. Sadly I'm not able to go to the festival this year despite having a ticket so won't be able to make the meet (offical or otherwise). It would be nice to meet you all.

This is the efests meet though. If I was Neil I’d have felt chuffed people recognise ‘my’ meet as such an institution. 
 

E.g, “thanks CF for setting this up. The official efests meet will indeed take place at  etc…”

Honestly the amount of damage he's done to your investment in the last 24 hours let alone the last 12 months. I'd be hoping for some robust action and a slightly more fleshed out statement of intent and of how you position yourself in relation to some of the bile he's been slinging.

I'm working on it. I think it's fair to say my style is very different to the previous management, for better or worse. I'm quite disappointed at what has unfolded here and I do hope that you all will be understanding as a transition in ownership does take a little while. I do believe Neil's intent is good but this is not the way I would want things handled. I would love to encourage the community to thrive and grow, not stifle it in any way.
