Parking - East or West

Hi guys. Travelling from south Bristol so have got the option to approach the site on either the A39 (west) or A37 (east). Website seems to suggest the A37 is easier for traffic both coming and going from the festival? I guess most of the M5 traffic ends up in the A39. So basically is the website telling the truth and would I be better off heading for east parking? I don’t mind walking a bit extra from the car parks if it reduces the risk of being stuck in a mega-jam. But how much further will it take me to walk from east?

many thanks

Depends where you are thinking of camping and when you plan to arrive? Most of the main camp sites are on West side so if arriving later you are better heading there- D and A gates. East car parks mean you enter via Gate B at top of muddy lane so near to Big Ground and the top area camping near the farm. Or you end up coming through all the campervan fields to gate C and the hill of death. Either side it’s a long walk ! It’s about 30 mins to gate C.

Thanks so much for your reply. What’s my chances of getting pitched up in big ground if I’m arriving to site around 10am on the Wednesday? Only 2 of us with 1 medium sized tent

As @sedrasuggests it mainly depends on where you want to camp but one point to note ref A39 and traffic....if you are coming from Bristol then using the A39 south from Wells will likely give you the option of turning left about 1km south of Wells and heading for Pink parking via Launcherley and North Wootton villages.  Pink parking can be a bit of a walk from gate A/D but using this route would avoid mixing in with the M5 traffic approaching the site from Glastonbury (A361) direction.

possibly - depends if you mean arriving on site by car or bus at 10am or actually through the gate. You could be walking and then queuing for about 2 hours before you get into gate. Best to head into middle away from paths and edges as you might find spaces better there but have a back up plan and check with stewards who know how fast sites are filling up.
