Specific music genre areas

I’m a first timer, and although I’m looking forward to exploring everywhere and listening to all the diverse music genres, is there an area that's more likely to have DJ’s playing early 1980’s jazz funk and soul, or even 90’s dance anthems, that I can stumble into?

From your post you'll probably like the Glasto Latino Tent and West Holts may also be a good spot for you. Craig Charles normally does a day long session in Shangri La on the Thursday which you'd enjoy. 

For 90's dance Eats Everything's History of Rave in the Stonebridge would be a good bet. 

Your best bet is to wait for the full lineup to drop (any day now) and then use Clashfinder to map out a program for yourself which takes in as much that's to your taste as possible.
