There are more TBA spots? Could it still be both Foos/Pulp over the weekend??

Absolutely not, pick your side and defend to the death.

(yes of course both could be there & I think this is the most likely scenario)

Because it's interrupting people going "It's X" "no it's Y" over and over?

We'll happily pipe down if some actual interesting info comes along but there's not much else going

Just feels like significant enough conversation to have it's own thread

I'm guessing Pulp myself but this is the problem with secret sets. It's great fun to speculate before the festival but I cannot emphasise the disappointment when a band that you don't like walks on that stage in the secret slot. Happened to me when I dragged my arse all the way to the Park, pass multiple good bands, for the secret slot and out walked ******* Biffy Clyro 😂

To be fair, they did leave a massive clue prior to the show. The day of the set they put some photos on their website: footballer Park Ji-Sung, one of the planet Saturn, and the Roman numerals for 6 and 40.  Lesson learned, I'll be checking social media the morning of the gig for hard evidence. I don't mind the Foos but would rather see Pulp or Folamour for example who is on at same time

But then there was the Thom Yorke one, which was one of my favourite ever Glastonbury moments. I had no idea, but when they soundchecked all the instruments I got suspicious, and I almost knew for sure it was Radiohead related when the Idioteque sound came out. Incredible feeling when he came on stage, and then when he went through those Radiohead songs, from lesser known (in terms of singalongs) to Karma Police and Street Spirit, it was perfect.

Whereas I was "oh, it's Radiohead" and turned around and left...

If that was 2010 there were certainly a heck of a lot that knew, as they were pouring up the hill into Park.

We heard mention of it and as it doesn't float our boat we chipped off and made space for them.

My memory of 2010 is we were pretty sure the Park secret sets were Radiohead and Pulp but didn't know which days was which.

Internationally sure, but video game players are still a tiny proportion of the population.

Yes, Blur vs Oasis was a big thing, but a few songs managed to break through even past that: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Common People and Parklife. But Parklife sort of faded away a bit. Hell maybe throw in Sit Down as well.

I agree as a band name, Blur are hugely well known, probably more so. But they're generally known in the context of "vs Oasis".

That's why it's weird. All the following can be true at the same time:

Blur are more well known than Pulp

Jarvis is more well known than Damon

Common People is more well known than Song 2 or Parklife

(That's all just the UK - internationally is completely differently and Blur are much, much bigger when you factor in the US)

First match for Fifa Grandma...and featuring PSB...

I’m not sure. Because I was up there for Radiohead & didn’t make an attempt for Pulp. And strategy was justified.

Out of the bands speculated so far,   I'm pretty sure the Churnups are the act I like the most rather than the one I like the least.

I can't see any solid evidence that the bands I'm less keen on are playing, but there's loads of compelling confirmation biases for the one I like.

Ha. Then fair enough! 🤣

That also might make the 'Bristol' hotel thing more believable if it's a US record company booking and saying 'Bristol' when they actually mean 'near Bristol' and the more local options that gives.
