Nah that’s not really how this works. If they wanted longer they would’ve asked and been given a longer slot. They can’t just keep playing with the assumption Royal Blood’s team have got f**k all to set up.

Fair enough. Guess it doesn't matter when headliners go over as there's nothing after them.

Likely setlist, maybe time for more if no faffing but let's be honest won't happen and it'll be off the chain anyway.

1. All My Life

2. Rescued

3. The Pretender

4. Learn To Fly

5. Times Like These

6. Under You

7. Breakout

8. My Hero

9. Monkey Wrench

10. Best Of You

11. Everlong

I'm selfishly very pleased. While my husband would like to see Pulp, I'm at IOW the week beforehand. I'm already having to double up on a lot of acts like Blondie etc, and while my husband has seen the Foos (his first ever concert) I have not. Buzzing.

It wouldn't be entirely unprecedented for an act to start early, especially if they have a generous changeover time and want to play a bit longer. The Who did it in 2015 when their start time was brought forward 30 minutes on the day. But probably isn't going to happen here.

Headliners can technically go to Midnight on the Friday and Saturday, or 23:30 on the Sunday. Any later than that and the festival starts getting fined (heavily, and by the minute). If overruns keep happening, then the Festival will risk losing their licence or having conditions imposed. That's why headliners are usually scheduled to finish ahead of that, to allow a certain buffer.

Could they theoretically do more than the 75 minutes they've been assigned on the line up? Royal Blood don't have a massive stage set up (only 2 of them!) so it plausible?

The Pyramid actually has a revolving stage to speed up the change overs so this doesn’t matter anyway.

Starting to feel like I'm the only person who dislikes Foo Fighters.

Thought Pulp would be nailed on this year with Jarvis being there every other year and big friends of the Eavis's. Gutted with this new revelation.

Nah me too, but there's a bit of a bubble here. It's a huge booking and good on the festival but they're not going to attract the largest audience of the weekend by any measure. The crowd wasn't particularly big when they headlined either.

Yeah.

It'd be a mind blowing coincidence if he somehow included that slightly awkward turn of phrase without it being a direct reference/hint.

The idea that he's trolling, especially in an emotional letter like that, when his own fans would be the ones most disappointed is even more far fetched.

The only way it could have happened if he's been following the speculation, so had those words in his head, and so just happened to use them while writing that. And that it was then published straight away, and did go through their PR team or anything. To be clear: not saying that happened. I think it's vanishingly unlikely. But it's the only possibility if people want to hang on to it.

I would love to know Royal Blood's reaction to it being Foos 😆

Probably "oh nice, we have an act on before us that's worthy to open for us"

You're far from alone.

Contemporary rock music is generally dull.

Having said that I'm happy that it seems to be the Foo Fighters, should mean plenty of room else where.

What's a good Foo Fighters song to try them out?

Everlong is largely renowned as their greatest but not my fave.  I'd probably go My Hero or All My Life.

Along with every single AM fan having a love for the 2013 performance. There will be a lot of people who weren't there for it who've seen it online and want to try and relive that.

Not every fan, I've yet to see them give a lively Glastonbury set, thought both 2007 and 2013 were a bit meh. They have the songs but not matched by their performances.

I'll be there, mainly due to not a lot else appealing, and the fact the current tour is attracting generally positive reviews. But I've found them really hit and miss over the 15+ years I've been watching them.

I always liked Learning to Fly. Plus the video is great - or at least I thought it was when I was 15 and it was on music channels on repeat.

Opening track at the Cheese & Grain in Feb 2017.....what a night that was 😍
