Doesn't poverty also expose one to a roller coaster ride? Surely any 'predisposition' (of any nature) is irrelevant to wealth?

Having been through extreme 1st world poverty (no food, eviction level), I can confirm it does, but I reckon mad wealth, surrounded by yes men, audiences of 10,000's, no fixed abode/family life and readily available substances/booze might have bigger ramps and more loop the loops. I'd love a go, like, but I can see why these guys go off the rails.

Meh.

I’ve zero sympathy for someone who cheats on their partner.

Not getting the violins out for someone who can’t keep it in his pants.

I said earlier I wasn't defending him, certainly not asking people to have sympathy/empathy, just commenting on the degree of emotional flux as a social observer...

If I took a moral stance against those artists that have been unfaithful over the years, I probably wouldn’t listen to much

Thats why I listen to acts like Frank Sinatra, Oasis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin

Having a ton of money doesn't always make it easy...certainly predisposes you to the roller coaster

Sometimes when I'm feeling down and my back's aching from work, the only thing that gets me through is thinking "at least I didn't win the lottery this week". Because that would be terrible.

Winning the lottery has been a disaster for many in the UK and across the world. However, as one Texas oil billionaire once said 'Money can't buy you happiness, but with my kind of wealth you can rent it'!

I've heard people say that, but I haven't heard about any of them giving their money away 🤔

There are some examples in the UK. Here is one such example;

And here's a few more (from across the world)

I think that if I won big on the lottery, I'd probably travel the world with all my mates. We'd stay in the best hotels, go to many countries, drink in posh bars, eat in expensive restaurants,  take drugs, buy designer clothes etc. I'd do that for a few years, then come back home and whatever money I had left over, I'd spend foolishly!  lol

Well, she gave half of it away (keeping £60m to get by), and also she doesn't seem to have been one of those complaining about being wealthy in the first place. I won't bother with the second link 😂

Well, I haven't even read the contents of the first link in any detail. That story just came up as I was looking for another specific example that I had heard about in the UK before. Then I thought 'well, there's an example. i'll just post that instead'. which is what I did. I had no knowledge that these people were to also complain about being wealthy as well as giving huge amounts of money to good causes. Maybe this is because I have only read the tail end of this thread, and that you mentioned this necessity in a previous post (which I will not have read)?

As for the second link - when you say you'll not bother with it, do you mean opening it, or commenting on it? If you haven't already opened it, I'll inform you that you are not missing much. I had looked at this article deeper than I did with the first article. I reckon that I spent a good two zeptoseconds looking at the second article. I wasn't impressed. in fact my experience was even more negative than that. I fleetingly looked at the page and felt a slight wave of queasiness / depression wash over me. It wasn't the content of the words, it was the whole page layout, design, colouring. I really wish that I hadn't seen it myself now.
