It was on the android store as well so must have already been removed

Must have just been taken down then, damn, wanted to support the guy!

Will have to stick to Clashfinder on my phone then. Don't think I've ever used the app for much anyway.

Advise I got was to disable automatic updates so that a neutered version of the downloaded app doesn't get amended on your phone if you've already installed it and most importantly, spent a load of time marking the sets you want to see.

Surely they just won't update it now? They've obeyed the takedown request.

Still working here anyway...

whats the normal lead time for the app. when it was EE. im sure it was out in the first week of June last year?

Well it was about now - but you can guarantee that corporation b doesn't base their release date on when corporation a did it - although presumably they have a release date from their 'customer' GFL?

You have to submit your app to Apple & Google for approval. That can take some time, especially if it's a third-party agency they've paid to make it. Even longer if Apple rejects it and makes you resubmit with changes. So likely they're just waiting to get them approved.

You can’t update an app that’s not like and in production (source am an iOS Dev) so however it is now is how it will stay, he’d have to put it back in the store to do it.

Review time is about 2 days these days. Revisions to rejections sometimes even faster. Always been rumoured that larger corporations can queue jump/get priority but never been proven.

Either way I hope it never gets approved. I am absolutely fuming about what they did to Reece and his app. Absolute zero legal grounds to do it, pure bullying and completely against the ethos of the festival. I won’t be downloading it.

The app is great and the developer has done a really good job with it, but to play devil's advocate a little I can see why they asked him to take it down.

I imagine a fairly big part of the Vodafone sponsorship agreement is the branding of the app as it gives them a lot of visibility over the weekend. Naturally they want an app literally called "Glasto" taken down as they've paid a pretty penny for the exclusivity and the festival won't want to overly rock the boat with a new sponsor or risk people thinking that it's the official app and something goes tits up.

I know people are saying "not in the spirit of the festival" but the harsh reality is, the festival needs these sponsors to continue to thrive and sometimes that means business has to come first.

The developer meant well and was just excited to share what he created but I do think there was a bit of naivety in naming it Glasto, including the map etc.

My only counter point to that is regarding the validity of the takedown notice / cease and desist. I cannot find anything that say's 'Glasto' is a registered trademark. The map however was always an asset, and probably should have been redesigned from the start.

However, once the map was removed, name changed, and any mentions of protected trade marks / digital assets were also removed, why did they still pursue it? And on what grounds. This is where, to me at least, it looks like Goliath bullying David. They had no case against him, but still scared him into submission.

Glasto appears to be a registered trademark here;

https://www.trademarkelite.com/uk/trademark/trademark-detail/UK00912068029/GLASTO

Although I'm not going to claim to know the legals ins and outs but I imagine it's a no no haha!

I don't disagree that it come across as heavy handed when the changes were made, but does strike me very much as a case of damage was already done. If it was always called "Plan Your Festival" and had a couple of other festival line ups on there too, I think he'd have been fine.

Ah fair enough, I didn't know that as they haven't listed it on their own site as a TM.

That first version was in breach either way anyway, as they'd used the map, (which I like tbf) the map was a digital asset belonging to them and thus copyright protected.

It's them pursuing it after removing the map and removing all trademarks that bothers me.
