They tend to tour on strict cycles (every 2/3 years, usually on the back of an album) and don't seem to deviate from that. Apparently they've been close at least once, I remember them being strongly linked in 2009, but for some reason (probably money), both parties have never been able to make it happen.Â
Â
2027 could be a contender (if they are touring), but I've been saying there's a chance for years. Maybe that ship has sailed.Â
Â
As a fan, I think they'd be fantastic (waving my arms from side-to-side to the outro of Never Let Me Down Again at the Pyramid is a Glastonbury dream I visualise often). For the casuals, alongside Gahan's stage presence, they've probably got enough reasonably well-known songs in the set to maintain 100 minutes of interest. Hugely underrated in this country in my opinion but as I say, I'm a fan. With all due respect to Neil Young, if he can headline (for a second time), Depeche Mode absolutely can. And it would be Pyramid headliner or nothing.
Â
I'd love it to happen but I'm not so confident that it will.Â
