Never heard of him but 19 million monthly Spotify listeners so he must be pretty big...

I could easily see the 3 you mention being booked. Flaming Lips in particular would be cool - they look great live.

Touring US in April. Can deffo see them finishing up the album cycle with summer festivals

I cannot imagine PS skipping them after all they are one of the most exclusive indie acts to book, having only played US/UK and Paredes de Coura.

 

In other news: Hellfest announced their first 24 names, would love to see Brutus, otherwise pretty irrelevant for PS. Or would Megadeth be a suitable legacy metal act like Slayer 2017?

Fu Manchu and All Them Witches could also appear at Primavera I guess? I would definitely go see them, especially Fu.

And wouldn't mind QOTSA being one of the headliners either. They already did Mad Cool last year... And I would personally prefer them over a lot of the headliner-expectations that are thrown around here.

You're right, but I remember that he said also something negative about Gorillaz and here they were.

So I wouldn't say QOTSA are impossible, maybe just not very probable.

Yeah, if there was the need to fill slots they'd probably still be booked. They aren neither as big nor as hip as they once were though, so I can not see them headlining, maybe the slot Ghost played this year?

They headline fests Primaveras size in Europe, they might sub bigger ones but if they played Primavera they would headline.

I don’t think of Primavera as even having headliners any more.

In my opinion when you have more than one (and certainly more than two) headliners, there is no longer a sense of headlinerishness.

Case in point last year Phoenix was a ‘headliner’ and The Smile weren’t but the dividing line seems small and ultimately who cares?

Yeah its completely arbitrary. But its the one segment of the line up thats narrow enough to speculate about with some accuracy right now. The pool of "headline sized" (whatever that means is of course vague) acts isn't that big, so it makes more sense to discuss those than the pool of tens of thousands of smaller acts that could potentially play Adidas at 2:00 (I want MJ Lenderman for that slot pls).

Roskilde Festival is announcing the first names next Tuesday, probably the first headliner is going to be announced, Primavera and Roskilde always share one or two big headliner name, this year it was Kendrick, Blur and Rosalia, so I guess we will at least now the panorama of the festivals.

Rock am Ring, Nova Rock and Greenfield will announce Green Day on Thursday, that'll probably also bring some new names to the circuit, albeit less relevant for PS

Sorry, next Thursday, November 2nd.

Yeah, its gonna be Green Day. They'll release another single plus Tourdates on November 2nd and the festivals all announced their first bands for that date.

He also once said that "Hinds weren't his thing and/or he has no intention in bringing them to Primavera". I'm not quoting literally but if I remind correctly, it was something like that. And a year or 2 later they were on (I think) the biggest stage?

I also can't imagine every act on every Primavera line up ever, is something he likes. Though he's the "big boss", I guess sometimes things get booked he doesn't care about. Which I think is normal for an event that big.
