Yes - I am old - but I've never even heard of Baby Queen until the poster dropped this morning.  Looks like she's only got one album out too.  Why are people thinking she's the stature of an Avalon headliner?

I don’t think they do, it’s just me being dense. @Nobody Interesting said she was “at the top of the Avalon poster” and I mistook that for meaning headliner. It’s actually just alphabetical.

I hadn't heard of Baby Queen until today either. But I've had a quick listen and certainly don't dislike her and may like her more with more listens. Interesting to hear that Kaboom has seen her many times and she was excellent each time so may well try to see her.

In fact of the playlist I've put together for Avalon, there's nothing I dislike at all so far.  As I said, a very solid line up.

Her live show is very energetic and she engages with her fans really well. Which songs did you listen to? I’d recommend Raw Thoughts, Want Me, Colours of You and Ride or Die to get a feel for her various styles.

Couldnk grab a link to your Avalon playlist?

That's the sort of detail that can make or break whether it's worth seeing someone.  You can't get a feel for it just listening to them on Spotify so it's always good to hear about audience engagement.  Thanks.

My playlist is here - nothing fancy, just the top 5 songs of each artist.  Might edit the Baby Queen ones if they're not the ones you mention (I haven' checked yet).

When torn as to who to see my first port of call is Youtube - to find footage of live gigs to see engagement with audience or lack thereof.

As much as I love some music the bands that just arrive, play it and say a 'thank you' every 4th track are bands I tend not to see live. I want to be entertained, I want to be puled out my box and played with so to speak.

It's a good point. Listening to The Scratch off the Avalon announcement, they sounded like the sort of thing I would enjoy. Watching them on YouTube shifted them up to a "must be there" act.

You have totally lost me on this one - I have no idea what you mean.

Didn't you say that you're a big viewer of the videos folks make at gigs and upload to YouTube, or have I (as frequently happens) misunderstood?

Videos of live gigs - preferably good ones. rarely if ever the ones made by fools holding up phones whilst talking.

I watch stuff like this

I agree, she’s really great at between song banter and she has a great voice (which I was worried about after seeing some poor quality you tube videos from gigs and festivals).

I was really impressed by how much bigger and more guitar heavy the songs sound live.   I can’t get my sh*t together was epic!  Really can’t wait to see her again.

I’m happy about this, hoping to be working behind the bar at the Glade and his sets would be great to keep you going to whilst working without having to really pay attention.

You obviously missed Fatboy Slim’s

Nope. Gok Wan is a 'fashion guru'. Him getting behind decks sounds as much fun as all the kpop women that are suddenly djs believing they are interesting see behind their length and tightness of their skirts.
