Damn - JPEGMAFIA cancelled.

On the other hand TIMETABLES!

It seems he dropped out of other July European festivals - he's not in the Down The Rabbit Hole line-up anymore as well.

Timetable seems mostly fine, I think. A few minor clashes for me. MA vs. DFA1979 on Thursday. Grace Jones vs. Ezra Collective on Friday (I've seen them last year, so I guess it's gonna be Grace), Alvvays vs. Kiasmos on Saturday.

And I thought Jungle and Arcade Fire would play in different order (first AF and then Jungle in the night time).

It's gonna be fun anyway. I think Friday's gonna be my favourite day 🙂

Would welcome any expert recommendations on great bars and restaurants (or things to do) in Bilbao!

I visited Bilbao last year and i remember some things:

Tortillas and Tarta de Queso (cheesecake) at Taberna de Zarate, great bar for tapas and wine by glasses.

Plaza Nueva is a square with a lot of bars and restaurants, take a look, there are some good places. Avoid Ribera Market, i thought it some tourist place.

Al Margen restaurant, great and quality food for a very good price.

Guggenheim Museum is fantastic.

And, if you have time, day trip to San Sebastian, lovely city.

Is the site on grass or concrete? Weather is looking rainy so wondering what foot wear to pack

It's grass. Last year we rented a locker for the weekend and put jumpers, rain coats and footwear in. We did need the rain coats for am hour or 2

Any final tips for fun stuff to do in Bilbao (or good restaurants)?

The self-guided tour of San Mamés is fantastic. Impressive museum and we had the stadium just for ourselves when we visited it. You can easily stay two hours.

Arcade Fires set.

Sensational as always.

Saw them twice at Brixton last week. They're still among the best in the game.

Major festivals are slowly booking them again and they have a new record coming, so we can expect them to be on the road next summer.

Oh and Laika has to stay on future setlists.

Seen them in Dublin about 10 days ago.

Played funeral in full.

As you say, still among the best in the business.

It was a great year!

We were sligthly concerned about doing this just a few days after Open'er, but it went fine. We were just slightly more tired 😉Weather was actually good, we stayed in a hotel, so the Friday rain didn't bother us much, though it did get muddy in the end.

Best gigs: Arcade Fire, Parcels, Air, Massive Attack, Khruangbin, Shygirl, Slowdive, Mulatu Astatke.
