After much consideration, I’ll be at Glastonbury, Wilderness and Beautiful Days next year.  Hope to see some efesters in the fields! Good luck 😀

Current plan - Glastonbury, Funk the Farm (small Cornish Festival, may be new), Big Green Gathering (maybe), Beautiful Days and Shambala

Bearded Theory and Glastonbury for me, with an outside chance of Shambala

Snap. Not done Bearded at all but heard good things, and would be first time volunteering at Glastonbury, so interested to experience it from an Oxfam perspective.

Did Shambala last year and loved it, so would ideally like to go back this year too. Not looking likely at the moment given work priorities, but I'm still working on my negotiation game to get the time off...

Not sure about this year. Need to do 2 to keep the priority up. Bearded as usual if I can (would be 10th year!), but not sure what else.... have done Boomtown, Shambala, Beautiful Days in the past alongside BT. Got txt for G so not in the running.

Yep that's how I remember it.

Has happened for Glastonbury in the one year where too many people had priority, but has never been a thing for other Festivals.

It feels like filling all the smaller festivals up with priority people is a bit mean but I gather they prize experience over turnover at the end of the day.

Bearded and Beautiful Days for me tomorrow. Got to do two to keep priority.

Are you a supervisor? Only have to do 1 a year to keep the priority.

Been doing it since 2005 though. Sometimes I regret not being a supervisor but then I see how stressed some of them look and think thank f**k I'm not dealing with that

It's really not that stressy 99% of the time. There's the occasional curveball you've got to deal with but mostly it's fine.

Last year we found that we didn’t have to do 2 to keep priority up because there was a different category of ‘7 in the last 5 years’ or something, so it’s possible that once you are on a long run with Oxfam you don’t have to do 2 EVERY year to maintain priority.

We’re not doing Glastonbury any more and without the pressure to maintain priority for that, I haven’t really checked that out, but could be worth a more detailed look.

We are going for Boomtown today, and we’re probably going to get tickets for Beautiful Days as it’s just the following week and we find working 2 in a row to be a bit much for us, especially if one of them is Boomtown!

I hope everyone gets the festivals they want today! Good Luck Balti-Pie and Pinhead for Bearded! The ‘Glastonbury of Oxfam priority’ - straight in for that one in the first few seconds and then back to pick up Glastonbury - stressful! x

Shambala or Boomtown for me I think. Outside chance I might get a route into lost village with another org that would change Shambala plans.

Hey I would love to try Lost Village this year but have heard a mixed bag of opinions and so unsure how their staff treatment might be compared to Oxfam, which we know is always a safe bet. If there's any chance could you dm me about how you might be doing Lv this year and maybe i could cheekily hop on the train.

Nah. Can't cope with the whole break organising thing

I had this, was stressed as well until someone told me the "trick", get them to sort it out themselves.

Got a group of 4-6 in one place, get them to rotate themselves over a couple of hours.

Yep.  Or if you've got a load of pairs on specific positions, pick one (reliable looking) person - or two if you've got enough spare -  to go from postition to position, sending people off for their breaks, and covering them whilst they go.

Like all management, the trick is to make it someone elses problem delegate effectively.

Even more forgiving than that, it's 7 in the last 7 years that qualifies you! So you'd only need to do 2 festivals for 3 years and then so long as you get up one per year after that you'd be golden.
