Usually about two weeks out I think. Although some do get offered later (drop outs etc).

Monday shift you wouldn't find out until you get there and pick up you shift sheets

My tent neighbours got Monday shifts last year. A great option if you have the time, as it's just one less shift where you're missing stuff. It was patrolling Oxfield.

Hi all, Does anyone know of any volunteer or working roles still open/going? I've been looking hard for a way in and thought id found something this week but it was too good to be true.

Any help and advice hugely hugely appreciated!!

It is worth registering with Avalon in case there are drop-outs. We know of a couple of people who have got a space or dropped out this week.

Welcome 🤗

Glad to be here 😀 Just completed my OxTraining last night so feeling very real now!

Looking at what the shifts looked like last year, I’m hoping and praying for shift pattern A (but I imagine as is everyone else)

Yep hope so! No one I know got regular tickets this year, only other person I know is my flatmate who works in the Acoustic staff bar, so looking forward to getting to know some new faces

I’m sure you’ll meet loads of people both at the meet and on Oxfield.
Does your friend know where the acoustic bar is this year?  It looks as though family camping have taken over their old field

Ooo I don’t think she’s realised that! Looking at the map I can see now. I don’t think she has been told about any changes yet but I’ll ask her

Shame as I found Acoustic staff bar one of the best places to relax last year, probably one of a chillest places in the festival

I’ve got my training this Sunday, is this your first time volunteering? I’m also going solo but really looking forward to it! I’ve tried not to get too hung up on shift patterns, as long as no overnight Sunday shift (been told these are rare so fingers crossed☺️

Hoping to make the meet up on Monday depending on what time I arrive

Yep also my first time, but fourth Glasto in total. There were quite a few of us trying for volunteering but I was the only who got it!

The training is really informative and interesting.  It should set you up for the festival.

Question regarding shift patterns, the diagram I’ve seen shows you to do one of each shift, however on this vlog I’ve watched, the shifts don’t seem to correspond with what I’ve seen!

Also had my Oxfam steward training last night, really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to get there now.

While there's 5 "main" shift patterns, which I assume is the diagram you mean, there's also *numerous* variations on that (a pretty common one is for the Sunday shift on D or E being swapped out so instead those people can be used to provide extra bodies on Wednesday morning).

It also changes a bit if your assigned to a gate that doesn't run 24 hours - so for example because Blue Gate is closed overnight, shifts there might be 8am to 4pm and 4pm to midnight (they were when I worked it, but enough time has passed since then that it might have changed).

So yeah, the standard pattern is useful as a guide but lots of people won't match it exactly.

Just watched the video - and yeah, she's got a variant on E shift - the Sunday overnight shift is removed, but instead she's given a Wednesday afternoon when the gates are busier.

For my taste, getting that would be a proper result. No overnight, finished by Saturday afternoon, and not much missed.

Ok thank you, that’s helpful to know 👍
