3rd hand and not fully sure I trust it. But I've heard a suggestion this year that the festival are clamping down on staff bars selling alcohol from outside of the official contract. So if that does turn out to be correct, it could be the case that the difference between staff bars and public bars is reduced both in terms of price and the offering.

There's also cold cans on sale in the Avalon mess tent (crew camping field) for £1.50, so I've been told. Not sure exactly which brand though but I'm not too fussy if they're chilled!

Amazing! Well done, have also seen some stuff with Avalon places coming from reserve lists, anecdotally they seem to be the better way in this year for resale.

That's unlikely but I think a combination of not the greatest line up, moving campsite to outside the superfence, real life reasons cropping up and the possibility of sketchy weather is just leading to a few drop outs.

 

It's unlikely there would be a surge of new slots as it throws up a lot of logistical challenges. Not least having enough space in the camping field.

I actually heard that last year in Tom's from the guys running it. Would be a shame as it's a right touch in there:-)

Ha ha - I was totally joking about WA getting extra volunteers. 😀

 

However I didn't know that the WaterAid campsite had moved outside the fence - I wonder what the plan is now for the Brimleys 1 camping field.  Could do worse than use it to relieve the crowding in Tom's Field.

That is what is happening (I think). Brimleys will be recycling crew across the two fields.

The only people I know who've really had anything negative to say, and in one case haven't applied to do them again were people who had 3 night shifts. I mean they've all said it's pretty boring, day or night. Although you can still get boring roles on normal shifts. I speak from experience. The last two years I've been on Stickleball Gate, a vehicle only service gate at the back of Sticklinch. With two stewards. It's very very dull. Wednesday mornings aren't quite the same at a place like that

Stickleball would be better through the night on earlies than during the festival because at least you can chat & have a laugh without the residents complaining. I don’t blame them for complaining, as a bunch of stewards farting about while I was trying to sleep in accommodation I’d paid a small fortune for, would probably annoy the hell out of me too, but if they’re not there, they won’t be complaining!

I didn't realise that WaterAid's campsite was moving.  I wonder if they're going to where the recycling crew overflow was and recycling crew going to where WaterAid was

That sounds very feasible. Imagine standing at St Marys Gate and looking across to the right across the road and it's in there somewhere. Close to Oxfam / purple parking etc.

 

I'm sure all will be dandy but people like continuity don't they and Toms / Brimley is very convenient

I still miss Tom's field (and Oxfam left it YEARS ago).

Yes. Mine too. But think Tom's Field technically includes where WaterAid were before

Again, I am not completely up to speed but it does seem that yes, recycling will use the main Field right opposite Tom's bar / canteen and the next one along across the lane opposite the farm house which will negate the need to use the "overflow field" on the other side of the wood that WaterAid and Critical Waste both used last year.

That was where I was directed to last year on the Monday - but I got some space in Toms Field in the end
