Jack.194
Is that The Kooks are a sub-headliner with 2 subs TBA?

Rusty Spoon
I genuinely thought a couple years ago that IDLES would be a lot bigger than a Thursday headliner at Truck by now but evidently not. I'm not available that weekend but if I was I'd be considering the trip but probably not enough to entice me or make me feel like I'm missing out yet. It's it pretty much a 6music festival APE is a difficult one to try and figure out imo. They've booked heavy metal acts in the past, and acts who've had number one albums, plus it's an up-to 30-40k gig in London, and I think if it was a UK exclusive, Biffy could bring a decent crowd to it. To be honest I think Sea Girls are more recognised now than. The Reytons were when they played 3rd last year at Y Not so then being a sub isn't a crazy idea. I'd say that post 2012 Truck is only really the same festival in name as it's a very different beast these days. I missed 1998 as well but went in 1999 and have only missed three since then (2010,2014 & 2017) Think in 1999 there was only about 1,000 people there?! Did change a lot from 2012 onwards and even more so in 2017 when it was sold again to the Global Radio brand.

I reckon it could well have been even less - I'm just thinking of comparing it to something like Supernormal, and those very early Trucks felt smaller in comparison (although it didn't take too long for it to hit 5000 and start selling out). I really do miss the Truck of old, I wouldn't have dreamed of missing one prior to 2012 (even when I moved a lot further away) but I'm not sure I'll ever attend another one now myself. I didn't really enjoy my last visit for a few reasons and that's fine as it's really not aimed at me anymore, but luckily we do have a couple of excellent 1000ish capacity festivals that have a similar feel and ethos to the Truck of 25 years ago. Anyway I'll stop banging on about the good old days as the nurse is here with my medication.

Dales
Not sure about this really. There are only a few acts that I have paid to see their own shows in the past. i.e Wet Leg, IDLES, Black Honey, The Kooks & Holly Humberside. I tend to judge a line up about whether I would actually go to the expense and effort to go see their own gigs. There are a few I have seen at Festivals or supporting someone else like Coach Party, Sundara Karma, Pigeon Detectives, The Snuts. However, I did not like them enough to make me go out and get tickets for their own shows It seems a lot of effort, annual leave and money to go to this. I already have tickets for IDLES & Holly shows this year and am certainly going to Victorious and expect to see them their as well. It's well below the last few years level, well for my tastes anyway. I am sure there is good stuff among the names I don't know but they will be doing the rounds and will see them somewhere.
