Currently on site. Ground still very dry despite the early rain this morning. Wind not strong at all compared with first thing.

re Castle Stage

This year there is no middle barrier to navigate around on the Castle Stage. The field is just one big open space, not 2 sides.

2. Looks like when it gets busy on Castle stage you might have to go ‘in’ via the castle side and ‘out’ via the side facing the skatepark - hence the removal of the middle barrier,

A friend wanted me to go to this festival once. Is it as corporate as I imagine it, or is it quite a nice one?

Nope, lovely festival with a pretty decent crowd

Looking forward to heading down in the morning even though the weather is meant to be horrific

That's good to hear. It was just the vibe from the website that made me feel like it might be a bit like BST 👍🏼 Thanks

A little from column A, a little from column B. It is a nice little fest, supports local bands & businesses, good fun. And you can get a lidl bucket hat from the lidl bucket hats and hot dogs stall, and walk around with an advert for a supermarket on your head because it's ironic or something, IDK.

I actually feel a little disappointed this year…..is it only me! Don’t get me wrong, the acts we saw have been amazing but……

Every year I have said the comedy tent is far too small, and they need a stage with screens, and this year two people needed medical attention due to overcrowding in the tent leading to Russel Howard cutting short his set out of respect (good on him, but it was going to happen at some point)

The atmosphere seemed dodgy, we sat a watched so many people kicking off.

and cans at the bars 😭

Anyone heading down next few days, I’m with O2 and had 5G signal which worked the full day. Wee bit slower towards the night but still no issues

That was a nice surprise, a huge improvement on recent years.

What a god awful swap !!!!

Thought, they were ok. At least they booked another indie band. How often does someone pull out and they get replaced with a completely different genre of music.

I’ve had a fab first day. Going to Pitt street with the kids a lot paid off, as well as admiring the coffe cans for months. We got tipped off about Fatboy Slim doing a signing and were front of the queue. He was so lovely. The rains just started now. Hopefully tomorrow isn’t too bad.

Just got home after day one - really enjoyed Lottery Winners and Idles, Snow Patrol were OK and finished off with a gang of us raving to Fatboy. Common Stage seemed massive but good sound, plenty of toilets and loads of food choices. Agree with other comment - can only bars everywhere? Pints at the Acoustic Stage (sorry, Under the Trees) though, so not all bad. Hope the rain doesn't cause too much bother tomorrow!

A little bit of commercialism is expected 👍🏼

Enjoyed first day, no one overly impressed me but all good. Thought Snow Patrol and Idles were a bit underwhelming but had seen both recently headlining and thought they were better at Truck and YNot respectively.

Waiting for the mighty Busted to come out and hoping the drummers shut up.

Lottery Winners most enjoyable band of 1st day - had a great crowd at Castle Stage. Nearly all bars are cans only.
weather wet today- will wander over for Crystal tides and hope rain dies down a bit.
Spotted a Starbucks stall yesterday 🙄 as well as the Lidl one.
food prices - about £5 for chips, £12 for a wrap or £13-£18 for a meal.
£7.20 for can of Madri, £6.50 for cider, £9 for can of gin and tonic etc.

Portaloos were ok up til end of night then pretty gross and massive free for all crush getting in and out of toilet area on left side of main stage- no organisation whatsoever!

I went today for the first time ever, went for Biffy, who I thought were bloody grand as usual.

however, I must say, what a great festival Victorious is. I really enjoyed that day out, I really enjoyed the layout and it felt huge.

Victorious is a great festival in the perfect location. The mix of stages is amazing and it’s also exciting you can go right down to the promenade, into the museum and onto the ship etc- not to mention a stage in Southsea castle.

I personally found this year’s line up EXTREMELY weak but I enjoyed going to the festival nonetheless.

Fatboyslim & sugababes seemed to get the biggest crowds of the weekend - also went to see the Pixies who were good but their lack of audience interaction was really noticeable- don’t think they wanted to be there to be honest

That’s par for the course. Apparently they never ever talk to the audience. Loved seeing them though. Really glad people enjoyed the festival. I really do think it’s one of the best!

First experience of Victorious today and was taken aback by just how large the site is. Kids’ stuff all seemed great!

Saw Personal Trainer, Panic Shack, The Futureheads, Yard Act, Soft Play, a bit of Arlo Parks and then Biffy. That rain and wind during the latter was horrible but their set was great.

First time to Victorious (usually go

to Reading on the bank holiday weekend as I live within walking distance) and what a bloody marvellous festival it is! Line up far more to my taste and loved that it had its own distinct areas.

Biffy superb as usual and also enjoyed the Kooks and Red Rum Club early on. Plus James Walsh on the acoustic stage was a treat!

Will definitely be back!

4th time, still thoroughly enjoyed it.  Sunday was probably the best full day I’ve had there for acts as a family that we like and my fav band Biffy to finish it just made it perfect.

Only went Saturday and Sunday (Sunday seemed much busier but that could have been due to the weather I guess too).

Wont be back next year due to a family holiday but will always look out for the lineups.

Went for the day yesterday, Biffy doing a lot of heavy lifting on that lineup for me. Not really anyone I was fussed for outside of Soft Play (who I ended up missing anyways).

Ended up catching The Kooks then leaving the site and came back in to catch the end of Barrioke, Becky Hill and then Biffy.

Becky Hill was fun, her crowd were full of wee bams more interested in getting off their face and causing fights though. Biffy were stellar as usual, crowd was awful.

Probably won't be back unless there's another one of my favourite bands headlining a day.
