Ooh, where did you read that he's planning to tour the UK next year? An early afternoon slot would be perfect - I can already picture 'Let's Pretend We're Not in Love' floating across the Garden Stage area.

He mentioned it on his bandcamp community section

Might as well use this as a general 2024 wishlist thread. Going to focus on acts which have released an album this year. I've really enjoyed all of the following over the past 8 months and could definitely see at least a few of them making an appearance next year:

Dougie Poole
The Clientele
Billy Woods & Kenny Segal
Dudu Tassa & Johnny Greenwood
Colin Stetson
Young Fathers
Kelela
Tim Hecker
Model/Actriz
Lankum
Andy Shauf
Fever Ray
REZN
ANOHNI and the Johnsons
The Lemon Twigs
Susanne Sundfør
The Canyon Observer
Gia Margaret
The Tubs
Rắn Cạp Đuôi
Lucy Liyou
Hayden Pedigo
Home Is Where
Loopsel
Maya Ongaku
Terje Torkellsen
The Reds, Pinks & Purples
Nuovo Testamento
Rose City Band
Andrea
Sluice
Celestaphone
Flyying Colours
Ayano Kaneko

Just home in time to see Gia Margaret in Manchester tonight (seated gig apparently); shame she wasn't on the EOTR line-up this time as new record is magical

PJ Harvey would be very unlikely. She was a surprising booking for Green Man which is two thirds bigger, and just because she's from nearby doesn't make her more likely - if anything Larmer Tree is in Hampshire.

This isn't so much a wishlist as some early informed guesses:

Lankum (Simon's a big fan, just depends if they do a second summer of touring False Lankum)
Nadine Shah (returning in 2024)
Viagra Boys (pulled out of Forwards due to visa issues, hinted they'll be invited back next year)
Bob Vylan (surely a shoo-in for the late night Big Top slot sooner or later)
Protomartyr (already confirmed for Canela Party a week earlier)
Ibibio Sound Machine (ditto)

I got an email from Ramsgate Music Hall saying they've been offered a show and were canvassing us members to see what sort of take up there would be. Obviously I answered that I'd be there with bells on. He's obviously going to be touring over here though

Jesus, they don't mess around do they? Looking at the line-up I'd also expect to see Snooper and Wednesday at EOTR, and possibly METZ. Might be too soon for Gilla Band to return, but you never know.

Ah actually, he says an 8 date tour in the spring so ...

I think The National would be a good fit for the Thursday headline slot and having missed this year, it seems quite likely they'll be at some European summer festivals in 2024.

There is absolutely no way The National will play EOTR these days, let alone in the lower status headline slot, they've just sold out two nights at Ally Pally

if EOTR have been reading my feedback/suggestion emails they could have booked them a few years ago for 2024.

Definitely think some of the headline names are too big even though they'd be amazing. Perhaps one is a really exciting, big get based on the Simon line in the programme.

Trying to think of Amyl style acts who could step up based on what was said for this year. I think with Angel O and the Wet Leg situation this was a bit of an unusual year in terms of the top billing.

Funnily enough I heard 'All My Friends' being played as between-acts tunes at both The Woods and The Garden Stage this year.  Not sure if they both just run from the same playlist or was it a subliminal message!

Much as I'd love to see them there, I think Arcade Fire and The National are possibly too big for EOTR now, but never say never.

Were you one of the dancing people having a good old time between Wet Leg and Future Islands?

I don't see why Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds would be too big as a headliner. It's pushing it at the top end but they're not exactly money-driven.

I just hope the headliners are smarter next year. You pay a premium for foreign bands so I'd rather it be someone with a good history than middle of the road bands.

The likes of Pavement, Lucinda Williams, Pulp, PJ Harvey etc

Ending the Sunday with a singer songwriter headlining isn't a bad idea (PJ Harvey)

You can chuck someone like Wet Leg (not really my cup of tea but about that size/buzzy) as the Thursday headliner.

I saw Young Fathers at GM and they'd be a great Friday headliner

For the Saturday, someone like Nick Cave or Pulp. Pulp, I assume, might be significantly cheaper.

There's always good stuff on the undercard, but the headliners put a lot of people off this year (I sold up and went to GM instead). Even if you're not fussed about the headliners, it's a point of value for money. They need to be acts that I can't go and see in Manchester most years for 30-40 quid. They need to be a bit different.

I mean, if you're really clever you could offer Boy Genius the Saturday headline and give them individually the other ones.

Nick Cave and Pulp are surely too big.

Would be very happy with PJ Harvey, Young Fathers, Pavement. Would fit the audience.

Or Grandaddy would be a joy.

Nick Cave now plays arena,s at a cost of around £60 a ticket

One of headliners is a 'dream one' they wanted from the beginning, so that does narrow it down

Also, we assuming it's a nick cave and the bad seeds show? Could be Nick Cave solo

I get the impression if boygenius are around next year, they'll be arenas/all points east size

My current guess is

Slowdive/Big thief/young fathers/nick cave solo

What year is it???

Pulp have been going longer than both those bands!

I get your point though, but if they need to cut back on spending I'd rather a band like those two than UMO or Future Islands.

And I personally don't think it would be worse to watch than say The Pixies.
