Is anyone actually buying this Taylor Swift info?

Is the account definitely real for one.

Also the ex ceo of Ticketmaster tweeting about it seems a bit suspicious....? Surely he'd keep his mouth shut on this kind of thing - and why does he care about glasto anyway? I assume he's american

Don't think anyone is actually buying it.

But it's just more to be speculated over.

Yeah fair - just something to chat about / coping

Taylor was already booked for 2020 before it was cancelled wasn't she? Idk why this seems so crazy.

I don't really think anyone is so big for Glasto that it is crazy for them to headline. We have had Macca (multiple times), U2 (first fest in literal decades), the Stones, Kanye (turning up and doing a full set is crazy for him), Bowie, probably missing more

The source is more the issue

She will do what she wants, its a bit random but often there is one or more curveball headliner schedules wise.

Festivals of the size of Coachella and Glasto (and nobody else really) can manage to get literal one offs from big artists

To be honest I can't square it under just about any circumstances.

I mean, between 4 new albums and another 4 re-records, and an extensive 2 year world tour playing 3+ hour shows every night, plus films, tv, music videos etc, I'd say she's probably done more work in the last 5 years than I have (or intend to) in my entire life.

I'd desperately love it to happen, but can't comprehend that someone who's just done all that would choose any option other than "sit on the sofa and relax" for 2025..

What better way to sit on the sofa for the vast majority of 2025 whilst still monopolising a whole bunch of headlines by just playing one show?

What was the last big "one-off" we had though as a Glastonbury headliner?

Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA were all amid European tours, Arctic Monkeys were in the middle of a stadium run, Guns N' Roses were clearing out venues across the continent, Elton John was just at the back end of all those postpones arena shows.

Kendrick Lamar having only one other big show on that run feels like the shout, I guess. Played Milan and nothing else.

She's become even bigger since then ....I reckon she's now at Michael Jackson's level when he was at his peak

In terms of Europe, Macca would be. He'd just done a relatively small US tour leading up to his appearance and Glastonbury was the only show in Europe.

Perhaps so, but Macca also got that British tag and previous headliner status, I guess. Theoretically makes him an easier catch.

Weren't some of the 2020 ones a one off?

I'm not convinced there's such a thing as "just one show" in this context.

Even for "just" a single date, and even eschewing all choreography / dancers and "just" playing the songs for 2 hours - there's still going to be at least a couple weeks of rehearsals and probably a shitload more planning prior to that, so paying band members and crew for at least a month.

Always worth remembering that this is a workaholic who doesn't half-arse things. I think if hypothetically she did decide to do Glastonbury in 2025, then having done most of the legwork she'd not be able to resist also hitting some other major stages that have some kudos in their own markets (Fuji Rock? Bonnaroo? TW Classic? Slane?)

Also knowing that she plays a good amount of her set on guitar and piano, she's already in the zone of less showy production stuff for some of the time. She could probably do a greatest hits show at Glastonbury in her sleep tomorrow to be honest

Of course she could.

But she wouldn't. She'd plan it to meticulous detail with every aspect thought through.

Last year the talk around Taylor was that she would NOT do GF because she was touring.

This year the talk around Taylor is that she would NOT do GF because she IS NOT touring.

My guess, she either is or isn't doing it and will or won't do it as and how it suits her.

The fact that she booked to do it once (f**k you 2020, you shitter of a year) makes me feel like she'll do it at some point. Feels like the hardest part with non-UK acts who don't have that intrinsic awareness of the festival is actually getting them on board with the concept.

It might be 2025, it might be 2055 when she's playing it as a golden oldie. But I reckon she'll turn up at some point.

She absolutely could strip production back to the band a few moves and play a truncated version of the Eras show.
