2025 Headliners

Is it more or are things very quiet at the moment on the rumour mill? Usually get some twists and turns, or surprise mentions out of nowhere but its been very quiet last few weeks since the Neil Young info. Anybody have any ideas as to what Neil Young is like to book? Do you think he'll jump at the chance and wont haggle too much over terms and fees, or do we think there could be some back and forth a la Madonna, Fleetwood Mac types

I can’t imagine he’s nearly as awkward or money hungry as either of those acts. He’s played before so not like they’re having to jump through hoops for him to see the positives in doing it. It’s most likely all done and dusted and there’s nothing more to report on the matter.

Think there have been significantly more ‘big’ leaks and rumours quite early on for next year in comparison to this year so just possible all the good info is out there already for the time being.

It's possible there's no new rumours regarding headliners as the three that everyone is expecting are indeed close to a lock.

Possibly but it’s nearly Christmas and generally a bit of lull on here during that time.

someone will chuck a few names out in the new year and we will all start debating again 👍

Where are we even at with those three - has there been new information ratifying previous information in the last 3-4 weeks, or just radio silence since then?

I did think we'd get one name out before Christmas tbf. And one actual headliner rather than just Sir Rod plus the one/two others who've let the cat out of the bag by themselves.

Still, it's usually the way we hear more in Feb/Mar time. So it's not that unprecedented for Glastonbury to leave us hanging.

If this ends up being a tour announcement and has a gsh then all bets are off lol

Imagine the scenes!

I do think she's a once and done though.  She done it well too, so there's no real need to revisit and risk damaging her Glasto legacy.

I had a dream last night that I was at Glastonbury and it was Coldplay again on the Fri night and my husband wanted to see them again but I didn’t. We can rule that one out, but it was funny

Rule Coldplay out at your peril. There is always a chance that they will appear at the last moment

I think they wouldn’t ever do two years on the bounce. Even with a last minute cancellation I imagine they’d bump up one of the subs instead rather than have same band back as last year.

but my husband would still go 😂

I don't think it's a risk. From someone who saw QOTSA last time (and doesn't regret it one bit), she was bloody ace last night.

I don’t get this ‘they were so good last time why risk damaging their legacy?’ mentality (see also Blur). Ok they were good last time, they might be even better this time, and if not - so what?
Better that than ‘they were dogshit last time, and the time before that. Let’s give them another go’

Do we have many people booked by Glastonbury going for redemption arcs?

And more full-on redemption rather than, say, Arctic Monkeys 2013 and Killers 2019 both being improvements on their sound system-afflicted 2007 sets

I’m not sure why all bets would be off against apparently solid intel. She’d drastically improve the current set of supposedly locked in headliners, but a gsh by itself doesn’t mean much, unless accompanied by a string of UK tour dates I guess. There’s no reason why she’d be a one and done, imo.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Look at it from the artist's perspective.

I did this thing a few years ago. I/we played really well. It went brilliantly. I really enjoyed it. Everyone there really enjoyed it. It was critically acclaimed.

Best not do that again, eh?

It’s similar for me to people saying they won’t see someone again because it was so good the previous time and people don’t want to spoil a good memory …. Maybe it’s because my memory is rubbish though 😀

Bucket listers in the crowd and on the stage.  Beyonce, for example. wanted the t-shirt and gave it 100% but she's not coming back.  A bit like some people run 1 marathon, for the achievement - but they have no desire to do it again.

I’ve read on here a post by someone saying they hope Pulp don’t headline again as it would spoil the memory of their legendary headline set. Their best known appearance was of course when they stood in for the Stone Roses in ‘95, but headlined again in ‘98. Not so many people refer to that one. Their current show is terrific and would only enhance their Glasto reputation.

i think some people can be territorial over what they’ve seen at Glasto (and elsewhere of course) and are reluctant for the artists to repeat it and allow others to experience and enjoy it too
