Sometimes I think it’s about who is on main and if a band want to headline a stage though. Like Korn headlining main I could see FIR accepting the second stage but if they are offered sub for ST they might want to do it.

I think they'd rather skip completely that accept second. They are selling far more than any Download second stage headliner on a normal year. Take this year for example, I don't remember who FFAF replaced so I won't count them but Pantera haven't sold their tour well from what I've read and they'll outsell MH easy here. Download is also somewhere where you get bigger crowds on second main stage for certain bands that might not otherwise fly out on tour so imagine someone where they do fly out.

Yeah, Falling in Reverse have sold a very impressive amount of tickets. Probably getting close to headliner levels. I went and checked because I was thinking "no way".

Cannot see any lower than sub, and they actually seem like a big sub to me.

Exactly this.

Can see FiR and Bad Omens being two of the subs

The only way Bullet are still subbing now for me is if FIR and Bad Omens/Detones are sub and I'm sure we have info Deftones are very likely. FIR is just guess work at this point.

It depends when they were booked though. If it was before they upscaled the tour headlining second would make sense. In the same way Ghost were booked for second before they had another huge boost in popularity.

There has to be a recognition surely though that based on sales, you need to move a band that are ery borderline main stage headliners themselves to a bigger stage slot?

Because it's the first time they are playing the UK they have sold alot. Doesn't mean they have more fans overall...I mean bigger than Ghost c'mon can't take that seriously.

I'm going by ticket sales, I don't care if it's the first time they are playing. You've had artists that came and played 3 nights Brixton then the following yesr selling multiple arenas as quick as any artists in the last 15 years at £90/100 a ticket. FIR have sold in one sitting without literally looking numbers to numbers, a little less tickets than Ghost did over both 2019 and 22 tours.

At this point if Bad Omens are there, I'd put them 3rd down main or headlining second again. We won't have a a sizeable tour from them to suggest they could sub in my opinion.

Bad omens could sub, they are massive, they’d pull a bigger crowd than architects

Let’s discuss how good Ice Nine Kills are and their new song for Terrifier 3, 2 back to back sell out UK tours big support slot with Metallica and a lot of hype and consistency from them, surely they’re on course for a small arena tour next time? Logo act at Download?

Here’s my go at a prediction

IMG_1150.jpeg

Skindred would play that 5th down main at Download. Converge unlikely in my opinion as would be putting McFly there not learning from the Busted mistake. Personally think McFly have no place there anyway. Jimmy Eat World clashing with Green Day seems a very odd choice and would expect them main or subbing second. Dropkick Murphys won't be lower than 3rd for me. Download have got a very good chance to tailor a day very much to Green Days strengths with bands that actually won't cost a lot. I think Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols actually have a good chance to be at Glastonbury.

Ice Nine Kills are absolutely rubbish but are a big band. I believe they’re ruled out as they’re touring with Metallica during DL. The next time they’re available though, I’d expect them to take a decent slot like subbing Second.

There’s no reason for Bad Omens to jump to sub. There’s been no new music, no tour.

There’s no reason for Korn to jump to headliner either, but that hasn’t stopped Copping.

Bad Omens could announce an arena tour tomorrow and it would sell extremely well. I’d argue they’ve jumped in popularity since being booked previously.

Edit: completely hypothetical, but I’d wager they could shift more tickets than Korn on an arena run.

Bad Omens headlining 2nd while Deftones sub Sleep Token is my guess, no clashes.

Side note, but Download always say no clashes but then give you 5 minutes to get between the stages which just isn't possible. They really should go to a dual main stage set up if they wanna do the no clashes thing.

Excuse me? Why are you making things personal? I’m entitled to an opinion.

What I said in the post was relevant to Bad Omens, I wasn’t particularly knocking Korn.

I thought it was an oddly rude response, too.

Apologies I should have responded in a different way, let tiredness get the better of me.

I’ve got them 5th down. Tbh I wasn’t sure about who to put headlining 4th, the fact that Yellowcard and JEW will be about makes me think they’ll be there but hard to fit them on main with the potential bands that will be around.

Feel like Dropkicks would accept a main stage slot for the right fee as DL and SD are the only festivals they could play now so it’s that or nothing. Considering Spiritbox and Sex Pistols are likely that’s probably 2 of your 3rd down mains as Sex Pistols will probs go with the money, can’t see Glasto being bothered about them. Depends if Pierce The Veil are gonna go on tour next year I suppose.

McFly could easily do Download, no different to Busted doing it. Stick someone a bit bigger against them on main and I think you’d be fine. Be a great atmosphere in the tent.

Latest attempt:

Didn’t give my thoughts on this

Deftones into Feeder would be a great Friday evening.

Wouldn’t be leaving the main stage Saturday unless it was for food/drink or toilets.

I’d attempt to see MIW, Beartooth, BFMV, Bad Omens & Korn on the Sunday.

Would be well worth a weekend ticket for that.

I actually meant Skindred would be higher than 5th down. I can't see anything other than JEW being 4th down on the Green Day day. They aren't a band that are going to sell mega tickets for another day to separate them from being the same day. Frank Carter, JEW and then The Interuppters if about makes sense. It's also a case of Green Day being so much different from what Download usually book that a lot of what is going to appear on days of ST and Korn aren't directly going to appeal to Green Day undercard bands.

I'd absolutely wager than, I don't think Korn would sell that massively on an arena tour. They sold 25k tickets in a park in the biggest city in the UK while a band that also did the same and got a big crowd subbed. Korn are headlining this year because Green Day are costing a packet and Muse said no. It's just easier letting them finally do it rather than asking another 18 bands like this year.

They also sold out Pierce Hall at 6000 capacity and Scarborough Open Air Theatre at 8000 capacity.

39000 tickets across 3 dates, all sold out, is pretty good going.
