I was going to put Foo Fighters as a prediction but there's a misgiving on whether they're going to be on pause following Dave Grohl's misbehaviour. I know there's a rumour they're still in talks on touring next year anyway, but there's enough doubt to make me put LP instead for now.

Thinking about it, are Linkin Park rumoured for anything? If they're announced for Download next year then they'll be an absolute no for R&L.

Roughbloke believes Foos are still in for Reading.

Interesting choice.

Or maybe they could revive their 2008 festival thing at Milton Keynes Bowl. One I remember was a first concert for many people in my school year as a guy who grew up near there.

BST would be my choice if I was LP. To go to a venue completely by itself with bands you choose and sell to people where there is much less controversy in what they are now. I'll be honest, if I was a regular Download attendee I might see LP with two top other bookings as a weak outfit. I say this as a huge fan of the past of them too but with just Mike from the original it's just not the same. Like I have no intention paying separately for them for those who do will. I don't think this year for Download was a year to book them alongside a Green Day or one of the others. Ghost, LP and Maiden for example would make so much more sense.

I thought Ghost were a bit bigger than they seem to be. Expected them to get the nod at Download next year, but if it's going by their "two nights at The O2" metric, then it ain't happening".

As for here, Linkin Park is a decent shout if not at Download. I just cannot see them at BST for some reason - but that obviously doesn't negate them doing it.

Ghost will headline Download in 2026, I’m confident on that.

So much for the thought of Foos not being around then. If indeed that rumour holds water.

I'm aware there's a lot of arguments about Linkin Park's new line-up - and boy have there been over Emily Armstrong - but I guess there's a mix. Rumour has it that in some markets they'll be doing festivals so makes sense imo if they're in the mix for the UK ones without knowing which ones.

It's the equivalent of selling out two nights at the o2 back to back. They've basically sold out the o2 and AO arena - they will 100% headline.

I fully agree and for all Andre does say this one will be correct but I don't think selling 20k at one london venue and one Manchester venue wouldn't make them headline something with a much bigger capacity. If so we would be saying everyone that's sold out Finsbury can down headline major venues.

In this country, and amongst the demographics that attend Reading, 21 Savage is bigger, or at least the same size as Roan. In the UK, she hasn't had a single song get more than 100,000 combined streams/views/purchases. Neither her album.

Sure she might have a new album coming, but right now she has 2 songs that have made it into the UK. I can't imagine a single headliner having just 2 songs that your average vanilla crowd will sing along to, Halseys a flop in the UK and she had more substance when she headlined.

But then again, FR are the masters of giving us headliners that have achieved sweet-FA at the time, but kids look at the poster in 20 years and think "omg that lineup was insane as if they had all those" (I.e. 2018).

Has Hozier been big since Take me to Church? I know he was the soundtrack to Dark back in 2020, but didn't know he was still a thing.

Central Cee bigger than Jorja Smith you think? Sure he gets a crowd but his lice sets have been awful in recent years.

Hozier had a massive worldwide hit ‘Too Sweet’ this year, but even aside from

that he’s built up a big fanbase in the last 3-4 years or so and does fairly big tours.

I'd love for them to. But the sales have been lower than I expected. Still a good few thousand left for Manchester Arena.

They’ve got plenty of time to shift the extra tickets, especially with new music seemingly on the way.

Oh yeah, I think they likely will. But going by the old "two nights at the O2" metric, they'd not be theoretically in the conversation.

(Said metric isn't exactly reliable anymore, to be fair.)

It’s more capacity wise. The O2 + AO Arena is there.

I’m gonna go with Foos being out so LP in as they needed a big headliner fairly last minute. Could explain Korn at Download rather than LP too.

Post Malone - Kasabian

BMTH - Chappell Roan

Linkin Park - Central Cee

Could easily see Chase & Status instead of BMTH and Hozier instead of CC but I think C&S will do Glasto & possibly some other dance festivals due to the UK arena tour in May. Feel like R&L won’t book them this year because of that, possible but think they might be one for next year. Charli could do it too but think she’ll be at Glasto/big weekend/parklife.

Linkin Park won’t be a last minute addition. I’m sure they’ve had everything plotted out for a while.

Maybe not last minute but once the Dave stuff came up maybe some Live Nation things were moved around ie LP from Download to R&L unless of course they do get announced for BST. Then that’ll mean Foos for R&L or if they’ve dropped and LP at BST then a different set to what we’re currently expecting completely. Maybe something like below if we don’t get Linkin Park or Foos?

Post Malone - Kasabian

Chase & Status - BMTH

Chappell Roan - Central Cee

Special Guest Hozier

On Ticketmaster, Ghost have pretty much sold out Manchester. Cheapest tickets available are £150 platinum tickets with not many left. Same with O2, just £180 tickets left. Same with Birmingham as the cheapest ticket is £200ish. Glasgow's not done too well.
