Sam Fender is in that strange pool, where you don't see them as a 'great' headliner, but they are ostensibly a big name and can pull a crowd that will know 20 of their songs and sing along to all of them. But still they need 2 big names alongside to prop up the festival, because his name doesn't sell the tickets, even though he appeals to the generic music fan of all ages.

 

I'd put him in the same bracket as 1975, Twenty-one Pilots (pre-covid), Dave, Biffy Clyro, Post Malone (current status), Lewis Capaldi, Lorde, Foals etc.

Fender is a huge name akin to Gallagher at this point id say, I challenge you to find me one indie-orientated festival lineup teaser post that doesn’t have “Sam fender please” in the comments

Much as they've had The 1975 on beck and call as repeat headliner of late, I don't see them doing that purely for the reasons you're saying - just coming back too soon.

 

I assumed that he'd be likelier to surface at Glastonbury due to it just looking like his time to go there. If indeed that is the case.

Why are MCR ruled out ? Been sweating them again last few days. Would rather them than bloody posty again. And seen bring me to many times now. And hozier only know 2 songs.

Playing a stadium show in Toronto on Saturday 22nd as part of their US/Canada tour. Unless they've got the tech to be in two places at once, they're out.
