Drums Please Fab
The BBC were acting the maggot tonight. They turned down the contrast of the SZA feed to make it look darker and hide the sparse crowd. Other bands feeds at the same time as her were much brighter. There are photographs knocking around of the stage while she is playing and it’s a ghost town. They are selling us a pup.

zzzfest2.0
FTR SZA was to headline Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival in the coming July, but it was announced in early June that she pulled out. The reason is unclear. The Killers have stepped in for the Friday headliner instead.
BigMarv
Ah, fair dos for trying something… But it was a monumental failure. Made her look stupid. Painted the festival in a bad light. And made the other stages ridiculously busy for the artists performing. I just hope this doesn’t lead to doubling down on irresponsible and unsuitable bookings next year. Metal Monkey
Where was the crowd then? The National was half empty as well.

Can we have a grown up discush about justifying booking acts based on streaming data now? An empty Pyramid causes problems for the fest elsewhere. All infrastructure is designed for field to take 60/70k minimum each night. It doesn’t seem like anywhere had that big a crowd tonight, The National’s was embarrassing too. Their job was to make the TV show & entertainment package look as good as possible for the viewing audience. Clever camera shots, hiding a sparse crowd - that's all part of it. Out of curiosity, were you so annoyed when they made QOTSA crowd look a lot larger last year? Or is it just pyramid headliners you think should have that treatment? A guardian review of the performance is subjective. What you or I consider to be 5*, someone else could think is a load of old shite... but if they are reporting it as "news" then they should be bringing up the low crowd IMO.

It just happened so now you know the feeling of other festivals that had stuff like this happen. This is Glasto's Frank Ocean moment but they dont get a do over next week so its gonna be a sticking point for a while. bbc had a messed up audio feed which didnt get fixed for a while and it easily made everyone who was interested to watched wonder what happened. From the sound of it a lot of people left early today so thats a factor in this. Edited July 1 by Suprefan

Fair play to the BBC, they did exactly that: SZA’s striking set failed to set Glastonbury alight https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ck5g74jr59eo
steviewevie
SZA obviously targeted at young crowd...but trouble is a lot of young people at school/college or priced out or they go with their parents who went home Sunday afternoon all grumpy because they hadn't heard of her. Something was missing... The year I didn't go. Coincidence? 2
