Rock En Seine 2024

Saw Lana at this last night. It’s such a weirdly narrow main arena area that huge crushes happen throughout. Particularly when the parasocial Lana fans decide to just sit down and watch TikTok videos throughout each set. I personally think they need to change their safety policies for next year.

Went yesterday for the first time.

Mixed feelings about the festival grounds. It is  narrow and the time overlap means unless you go for one act and stay there, you are not getting good views.

My main issue though is the management outside of the venue. We stayed 'near by' however they only open one entrance/exit and don't let you walk. Instead you are obliged you to take public transport (not clearly indicated leading to Spinal Tap-trying to find the stage- like scenes yesterday as we and many others wandered carparks, riverside boat houses and god knows what else trying to get to the entrance). There is also no additional transport running on the evening making the post-headline rush completely chaotic.

Music was great which I suppose is the point.

100% our experience too. Brought our kids so booked the Novotel a short walk away for an easy stroll to and from the site... Well that was the theory, until we were led a merry goose chase and turned back by arsey gendarmes. Had to retrace our steps back across the park, squash onto a tram for 1 stop (past where we had walked 20 minutes earlier) then funneled through a concrete jungle to the main entrance, where again there was a long wait to get in.

The lineup and sound was superb and the kids 'mini rock' festival (where we were encouraged to abandon them for several hours) was fantastic - they loved it, can't believe it was free TBH. Roisin Murphy was brilliant, as were Pixies and PJ. LCD were on top form. Caught 2 french acts (Never ending stairs and a great female dance/pop artist on Cascade) who we really enjoyed.

CBA with the whole 'top up your wristband for payment' nonsense but it worked pretty smoothly. We stayed til the end and then predictably had a nightmare trying to get back to the hotel as prevented from walking, tram queue was huge and blocked roads meant we waited ages for a taxi.

Overall a great time had by all but the logistics of getting people to and from site (or at minimum, MUCH clearer comms for ticket holders) need seriously sorting out!
