This is a great point. There’s no longer a satirical bridge between the SEC and real life. It’s merely a short extension of what we’re all already living, or a commentary on it that’s too close for comfort.

Shangri La has become a reminder of how awful things are rather than a wry reflection of where we could be heading. As such, it no longer sets out what it wants to achieve and needs to be overhauled.

Rather than telling ticket holders off if they don’t do the right thing, why not create a utopia where people could glimpse what it’s like when we all party as one? I’m done with the dystopian stuff. Let’s be more colourful and fabulous.

There is a strong possibility that this year's festival will be the first in over a decade not taking place under a Tory PM. Wonder if that will change the vibe of things in any way?

For every E-Fester bored with the dystopian concepts of Shangri La or the tired Unfairground, there will be two or three newbies or people who haven't managed to bag tickets for a while completely spellbound by the South East Corner and it's nocturnal delights.

I’m sure that’s true, but the majority have experienced it. Better to change now I feel, as it’s due.

The Sea king that Arcadia showed in a video on the back of the lorry was Sikorsky built Sea king rather than a Westlands one I believe tail number XV371 built in 1966 .

(nerd alert off )

Buzzing for you mate, you must have been waiting years for a chance to pwn a thread with this type of nerdery

The plans are for Arcadia sound interesting, we'll see if it happens as we've seen how late they can run with this stuff. From what I've heard, it's not going to be an Apocalypse Now theme, so no worries there.

Is there specific information as to what it is or just that it's not an apocalypse now theme?

Anyone got any carhenge pics? How sh*t was it?

sh*t isn't entirely the right word.

It was impressive, at first sight.

But after the effect wore off, there was no reason to hang around. The area went from being a pleasant place to sit down and take a break, to a wasteland with no signs of life most of the time.

Definitely either a reversal or a complete rethink needed.

Pfft, they should've got tickets years ago

Honestly I was thinking about those low gates that are light and a meter tall. So they could be quickly deployed by stewards rather than needing facilities.

In the areas I mention it's not there is not enough space it's just that people have to move left and right tryna dodge groups comming the other way. In 2016 when it was muddy it was literally nightmarish to get though.

Oh I think I know the area you mean now. You'd still be surprised, those little one meter barriers can kill you in a crush. I could maybe see it working there but for the logistics of putting it in place and then having probably 5-10 stewards each side directing around it for several hours.

I enjoyed it!

Me too.

I find the clamouring for switch immediately back to a tent for bands a tad boring.

In the fifty year life of a Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts why not have a bit more art for a change.  Doubtless the budget was very tight and they managed to re-imagine a previous creation for a new generation.

We each have things we enjoy more than other bits - that's the beauty of it, there should be plenty of things for most folks and clearly it was in an area that couldn't continue as it was.

It has also be remembered that car henge was a bit of a tribute to and inspired by the car henge originally built in 1987.  The travellers being denied access to Stonehenge.

That's a dog peeing up against the wheel!! Obviously animals were allowed back in 1987.

That's a change for next year, bring your own pet!
