I know Pitchfork is hardly the driving force in the music industry it once was and I can’t say I pay attention to it as much as I used to, but damn does this suck regardless.

Jude Rogers made a great point about this that said this merger cements a slightly misogynistic view that serious music journalism is for men and not women. It's very sad news. I understand how it's happened but funding for proper journalism needs to find some kind of solution. There's too many subscription services now for cultural content and I can't think of an easy solution but I hope one is found as great journalists can help you find artists that maybe you wouldn't have found another way. I know there's certainly a few that I don't necessarily always agree with but I would probably give an artist another listen if they said it was great and it didn't grab me first time.
