I think closing this loophole is really good politics. It shows they're willing to change standards in advance where it'll affect themselves more, but it also highlights media hypocrisy around the initial reporting of this "scandal". It's funny how right wingers are all supportive of market economics and the idea that paying is the best solution to encourage something, until people say "maybe we'll have kids if we can afford them". steviewevie Posted yesterday at 10:19 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:19 AM Out of these 4 tory leader candidates I guess my preferred would be Cleverly...but kind of interested in what Badenoch would be like...and she seems to be the only one who can do the whole pragmatic uncomfortable truth thing but from the right,,and maybe would be the one who would do the whole reality check thing and say we need to start paying more tax not just at the top end but in the middle if we're going to raise the sums required.. talking income taxes again...I'm starting to think Labour will never be able to do that...but the tories could. If she does that I might even vote for her.

Cleverly and Major Tom come across as centrists trying to be a bit more right wing to appeal to the base, while Jenrick looks like a centrist who has sold his soul to the right winger and a bit of a puppet. steviewevie Posted yesterday at 11:51 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:51 AM Labour conference was all tense with worries about tough decisions and spending cuts and whether the state can deliver and public trust and Gaza etc etc...and the Tory conference they're all party party and champers and batshit nonsense. pink_triangle
Interesting Cleverly now second favourite. Supports the idea that the 2 more moderate candidates will combine and push above Kemi.
