pink_triangle
3 hours ago, steviewevie said: It has been pretty chaotic, and she seems to have pissed a lot of people off...but yeah certain newspapers and tories and civil servants have been after her from the start. So.. a reset... I just felt it was a strange appointment in the first place as it allowed the Torys to spin that partygate enquiry was politically motivated. I just think it’s one of those jobs that you could probably find several qualified candidates, so pick a less controversial choice in the first place. I quite liked the trolling aspect...and she was well respected and regarded....but it hasn't worked out. have to see how McSweeney gets on, have to hope he does a better job because it has been a pretty sh*t start. Ryan1984
The timing of this - just as Spaffer is doing the media rounds to promote his book and throwing her name out there at every opportunity as a Labour foil for all his ‘definitely not parties’? The infighting was real and Labour are responsible for their problems since the election.

steviewevie
Apparently replacing Gray with McSweeney might mean a bit less Milliband and a bit more Reeves.
steviewevie
All the tax raising possibilities for Reeves are looking more and more difficult. Just stick up income tax, f**k'em.
steviewevie
They f**ked up by supporting previous govt NI cuts. They f**ked up by promising to not increase the main taxes. They f**ked up announcing that pensioner benefit months before a budget. They f**ked up with all their freebies and not having a coherent response. They f**ked up appointing Sue Gray. Basically, they f**ked it up.

Just stick up income tax, f**k'em. There are reports they could be rowing back on the taxes for non doms and private equity funds and delaying the VAT school change. Today's Times is also saying they are backing away from changing pension tax relief. The big tax raiser they have is freezing tax allowances for the next few years but that is starting to affect more and more pensioners who are already pissed off about the winter fuel allowance. The Tories kept banging on about Labour putting up taxes, £2000 a year or whatever...and people still voted Labour. They're going to have to do income, all the other stuff is too complicated. Keep bringing down NI, stick up income tax, unfreeze the thresholds, and just keep blaming the last lot and hope for the best.

lost
Reeves appears to have worked out any pensions tax would hit the public sector the hardest. I guess she’s worried about strikes.
