By next election could be in situation where isn't the left or Greens that change the direction of this country, it will be the far right like is happening everywhere.

Surely if the left (I’m defining left here as Corbyn/Green left) want  people to listen then it needs a message that people will listen to. If the movement continues to focus on Middle East politics, trans issues etc then they leave a big gap for the right to fill.

The right wing seems to be be getting (is being given) so much more TV time than the left. Farage is everywhere, interviews all over the place and often the number 1 or 2 story on the headlines.

They have one MP but none ever elected and yet they get this level of publicity.

It's almost as though some/or many of those who have publications want him to be PM in 2029 like Farage admits he wants to be.

sweet spot is bit to right on social stuff, bit to left on economic stuff, fortunately reform are far right on both so hopefully they've hit their ceiling...

I think the left need to make a decision do they want to preach to an echo chamber or think about a message to appeal to the masses. The trouble is I think at times some left wing academic and commentators feel more comfortable with similar minded people.

If you give the impression that Middle East politics and trans issues are the most important issues in Britain you lose a decent chunk of the electorate straight away. The focus needs to be more on the NHS, social care, how can kids get a house and a job. In fairness the centre left has moved in that direction, but if the left wants the be more than a protest then they need to evaluate messaging and priorities.

Conservative Home on the Farage bandwagon.

Christ on a bike, he's talking about himself in the third person now:

"How are we supposed to trust the Conservative Party to unite and stand up for Britain, when they cannot even agree on what to do about Nigel Farage? I am confident that I can now be the voice of an opposition that will stand up to the Labour government and hold Starmer to account. I have been pretty clear and consistent in what I stand for."

Yep, and we're all aware of what he stands for.

Agree and it'll be 'interesting' to see how many voters stay at home this election. Has Stevie done one of his predictions yet? I'm going for a record low voter turnout.

Do you really believe this will be the case after 5 years? The first year or even 2 years will be tough but after 5 years there will be improvements.

Labour's language is disguising their policies. They are campaigning against Corbyn as much as the Tories and wrapping themselves in the flag but they are proposing a traditional Labour Govt.

The New Statesman thinks Starmer's Labour is to the left of Blair and Milliband

Finding hard to believe that this country is now 19% angry gammon.  I expect the GE results will not reflect this.

They dont.

The right wing (including the Labour right) peddle this myth to discredit the left. The trans debate and the middle east debate takes up about as much space on the left as it does for the rest of the political sphere. The problem is, the only time a left winger is invited to give their opinion on something it is often one of those two issues. Because their opponents are safe in the knowledge that the average voter doesnt sympathise with their position.

The right wing dont want to debate the left on economics. They dont want voters to hear the left wing talk about economics. Because everytime they do, voters understand that there is a lot of truth in what they say - that the system is rigged, quality of life is slowly deteriorating and the political system is a thin veil of democracy that exists mainly to shore up the broken system. So you never hear from the left on economics, unless you actively seek out left wing publications - a few periodic mail order magazines like the tribune and a few online sources of various quality scratching around for funds.
