I must have missed the bit where the ICC (or the ICJ) actually ruled that Israel had engaged in genocide, because I don't believe it has.

No, it hasn't.

But it probably will...surely you can see that.

There was an argument that they weren't last winter...but that doesn't hold up now...directing people to safe areas and then bombing those areas, limiting aid etc.

I am not against Israel existing, and I understand why they feel to go above and beyond in protecting themselves because of existential threats made by some groups or regimes, because of what has happened in past, and the Oct 7th attacks were horrific, but what they have carried out in last 12 months is abhorrent. A lot of this is Netanyahu and others in his government. I don't wish death on people as a rule, but I want someone to kill Netanyahu. He is a major c**t. Most of the world would likely celebrate too, including many in Israel I expect.

We can't assume they will as it's rightly a high bar, and it's particularly emotive when directed at the Jewish state, given the tragic history of the Jews over the years.

I agree Netanyahu is a c**t, but he's no worse than a lot of other c**t leaders around the world.

I listened to a pretty interesting podcast about him the other day...his whole family thing, the amount of time he spent in the US, and the fact he has been so successful at the same time as being so disliked.

Also .he happens to be someone who is an ally, someone the west supports...which makes the liberal western democracies look even more self serving, barbaric colonialists than they already did.

yes, diplomacy...which is exactly what is need in Syria at this delicate time...not land grab and blow up all their weapons.

They need calming influences from the outside. Because you can see why the nations closest to this are acting like they are.

The last thing they need is outsiders (like yourself?) taking sides and escalating matters.

Like me? It isn't me who was bombing sites in Syria and taking more land in Golan heights just in case.

If anyone is entitled to use that "excuse" at this moment in time, it's Israel.

Ah yes, as the saying famously goes ’a preemptive eye for the eye that the other party may have been thinking about taking and the whole world has one eye, except for Israel, who has two and will bomb your entire extended family to oblivion if you even think about their eye’.

That comment would hold more weight if Jews hadn't been consistently persecuted by these people. If you're saying they're completely unscathed by saying they have 2 eyes, then you need to educate yourself.

I'm not saying Israel is in the right. I'm saying I can see their point of view. To be honest, there isn't a "right" side to be on here. That's why neutral nations with cool heads need to de-escalate.

People shouldn't jump on a side like it's Vardy vs. Rooney, and the current trend is to support Vardy, or whatever. This is more important than that and deserves reverence.

’These people’ - as far as I can tell the civilian population of gaza has not done much in the way of persecuting and yet, many of them are in fact, now quite literally without eyes, and that’s if they’re lucky.

Pretty clear that Israel is Rebecca Vardy. In the wrong and is gonna end up on the hook for a lot of dough in reparations after the eventual trials in The Hague.
