International Politics

Doubt it. Netanyahu could bum Starmer and Biden’s wives and they’d be all ’Israel does have that right’

Its bizarre the outsized power that this little genocidal country has. Its made a complete mockery of any supposed international ’rules based order’. Why would any country not just do whatever they wanted from this point. Why should China not flatten Taiwan and turn it into a big casino?

China has  already got Macau as that big casino 😛

you can drop bombs on schools and hospitals full of civilians...but if you fire at UN peacekeepers then we have an issue.

*except if your name is Israel.

All of this is the drop that makes everyone realise truly the west is no better than China or Russia. Its about power and nothing else. International law/human rights is a load of bollocks - just another layer of coercion, as evidently it only applies to the enemies of the USA. The final death knoll for america as world policeman. It is the greatest PR victory that russia and china could ever hope for.

Power Hungry men what a mess 😞 Have there been any responses from Biden / Starmer ? I wonder just how they can talk suggest this is ok

They're all saying don't do it...but words don't mean f**k all.

US have sent some new anti missile things to Israel, thinking is that is part of deal to persuade Israel not to retaliate against Iran by targeting nuclear sites or oil fields.

Depressing isn’t it … surprised that hasn’t happened yet mind you …

What exactly have these UN peacekeepers been doing for the past 12 months while Hezbollah were firing hundreds of rockets a day at Israeli towns? Waste of space the lot of them.

yeah, was wondering that. Is there already some sort of buffer zone and Hezbollah were firing rockets from the Lebanon side or something?

Are you an idiot? You want peacekeepers to walk around the lebanese hills trying to find mobile rocket launchers that pop up intermittently and fire into israel? And in any case mainly at military targets and deserted border towns.

If i wanted to keep the peace in the middle East, i’d probably start by attacking the country doing the genocide.

Whenever I dispair about some disproportionate Isreali retaliation I come and read your posts to remind me why I have to keep supporting  them.

so easy to get bogged down in sh*t with this middle east thing....way I see it is Hamas are c**ts, they did this barbaric attack I guess hoping it would ignite something...and what they have ignited is hell on earth for their people because Israel gov are also c**ts and have got some very extreme right wingers in there who are very happy to wipe out all Palestinians and take what is remaining of their land and are led by Netanyahu who is a wily and power mad politician and just really only cares about his own political survival and to stay out of jail. The US have been totally weak with all this, Biden has been totally lame, and now there's this election and Israel are obviously using this time to make as many gains as possible, which means going after Hezbollah which they have done very effectively, threatening Iran and who knows where that is heading, destroying Hamas which means destroying Gaza, and I'm sure there are those in the Israeli govt who would like to restart settlements there along with the continuous spread of settlement occupation in West Bank. It is a total f**king disaster. Just saying Israel shouldn't exist does not work, will not work. The best bet still despite all this is a Israel state next to a Palestine state. looks impossible at moment. Looks like it will be Israel from the river to the sea. There needs to be a proper solution with everyone involved..local, regional, global. Just calling people terrorists or zionists and saying stuff that don't belong in the 21st century needs to end and all sides need to stick to international laws otherwise there should be repercussions. ffs.

Diplomacy isn’t working. Israel is all in on the genocide. When Yugoslavia was at it, Nato bombed it and it stopped, peace was achieved and those responsible were put to rights in the Hague. It’ll never happen as Israel is a nuclear power, sponsored by the US and armed to the teeth. But I don’t know how else it ends other than that Israel eventually tires itself out in its campaign of extermination.

The problem is that Israel has always needed genocide for the one state solution to work, the alternative is that arabs given citizenship would soon be a majority, or that they dont give them a vote and their apartheid is undeniable.

It is the fundamental issue with the story of Israel. Ethnic cleansing at a minimum and genocide at worst is necessary if you want to create an ethnoreligious state in a place where other people live in similar quantities to those who belong to the group you wish to have the hegemony.

Doesn't need to be, two states side by side could be the solution. They nearly got there in the 90s, but extremists scuppered it, and now are in charge on both sides.

because they recognise themselves in Israel's actions.

any country would expect to be free to pursue those who warred against it, just like Israel.
