steviewevie
lack of posts shows how important this subject is to people. Anyway, we're f**ked, may as well make the most of it ..

Anyway, we're f**ked, may as well make the most of it .. It's tough to know what to say. I, and I imagine many other people here, try to make an effort, but protecting against absolute disaster needs to be done by industry, which won't happen without either political will or revolution. Anyway, we're f**ked, may as well make the most of it .. That article is a perfect example of why people shouldn't be concerned, it's a typical hysterical take on what may be a possibility in the future, "Atlantic Ocean circulation nearing ‘devastating’ tipping point, study finds", except it doesn't, it draws no certain conclusions, it's all based on one reading of the data and computer modelling, it may turn out to be correct but in all likelihood will turn out to be wrong. In any event, as this has happened before in the distant past there is no evidence it is connected to man made global warming, in which case we have no control over whether it happens or not. If people want something to worry about there are several other dangers much more likely to have a devastating effect on your life such as nuclear war or a cyber attack which disrupts the internet in the west, we are totally reliant now, it wouldn't take much to lead to a complete shutdown of society. Anyway, we're f**ked, may as well make the most of it .. We should all absolutely be making the most of our lives, no one knows what the future holds, live for today, worrying about tomorrow is futile, you will probably be worrying about the wrong thing! Nobody Interesting
Climate change is real. It is happening and it is happening around 10 years sooner than predictions made between 1998 and 2004. What we see now was predicted for 2030-2035. If you cannot see any change you are not looking - UK storms lasting 5 days never used to happen. 1987 storm came in at 11pm and was gone by 5am. Back that that was normal. Not now, In Kenya January is the hottest driest month of the year. They have just had m0ore rain than they get in the long rains in April and May. Too many just ignore it cos it does not effect them.................... but it will and the world will have done little or no9thing using China as their excuse - even though China will reach net zero (meaningless target anyway) before any other major country. Not sure where to go with this, but I'm sick to death of people not seeing what is in front of their eyes or making up weird excuses for an obvious and serious change in the climate. Change is not going to continue at this rate, it's going to get faster.
kaosmark2
A number of places have started using the phrases "climate crisis" or "climate emergency" instead of "climate change" because of how catastrophic it will reach unless something changes. Skip997
Why aren’t we more scared of the climate crisis? It’s complicated
gizmoman
One point that the media never raise is the carbon footprint of the military, the worldwide production and deployment of weapons and military vehicles must be a major factor overall. If the burning of fossil fuels and the detonating of explosives has such a bad impact on the environment why are our leaders so keen to keep up military action? They have pledges to reduce CO2 but totally ignore them when it suits. No one ever calls out the polluting effects of war and military action. Having to rebuild destroyed countries has an incredible cost, carbon and financial. The military get a free pass and even though we are told EVs are the future I've yet to see an electric tank or armoured car! (not trying to ignore or minimise the human cost of war, that is horrific of course).
