The "swingeing cuts" of coalition were ideological and even several economic bodies said so. As much as we look back and think things weren't as bad then, the current NHS crisis was as much started by the destruction of the care sector in the early 2010s, as it was by the pandemic. COVID was just the tipping point. Ofc, the blatant corruption of Johnson, Truss, Sunak, etc. plays into it, but Cameron/Gideon/Clegg should own the shame of this as well.
