Madonna was never going to play Glastonbury, I am not sure why people keep coming back to that. She has never played festival shows.

Rodrigo obviously scheduled enough dates around the rest of this summer to make me think there may always have been loose plans for big shows in Europe, but we'll never know for certain.   Had they been able to secure a "large" legacy headliner, maybe they would have given Charli XCX the leg up - or maybe they would have just braced for the blowback over gender parity and gone with three other headliners.
