Coldplay

Wish they’d play Shiver. I reckon one of their best tracks. The first Coldplay song I ever heard and still love it. Never really featured much in live sets though after the first couple of tours. Shame.

6 songs from the first 4 albums combined, 6 from the last one is gonna flop on the pyramid

Whilst I don’t think it’s gonna flop as they’ve had tons of hits since those first four albums, it’s enough to put them firmly in the ‘I’m out’ pile for me. I’ve no doubt they’ll put on a great show, but the ratio of stuff I like to stuff I hate skews far too much to the latter that I know I wouldn’t enjoy it.

Was a fan account I think can’t see it on official stuff … based on this format but minus a fair bit of the added bits which looks cleaner

Would be happy with that set so can leave after Fix You to get to Oh My God It’s the church in good time.

Wish they played God put a smile on my face like they do for their sound check.

Still going to be a fantastic night again.

Yeah, I keep thinking I may go, then read a set list and change my mind.

I think there's a program about them as part of the pre-Glastonbury stuff on the BBC. Maybe we'll get a clue then.

I think that Coldplay are savvy enough to play a crowd pleasing set and not lean heavily on the new record.

They played a good chunk of Mylo Xyloto in 2011 and it hadn’t even been released yet! Though they only had the first 4 albums to carry the rest of the set, so it was less noticeable. I’d expect the core of the touring set to be most of what they play at Glasto, but they do seem to mix up the odd older song they include (The Scientist, Clocks, Yellow and Fix You are always there, but there’s a couple more that rotate a bit). Really can’t see them deviating massively from what’s posted above. They’ve played the set people here are looking for previously, so presumably they are going to play what they are doing now (tour debuts for the odd older track excluded, and if it was any of the soundcheck songs I’d be happy!). Maybe I’m wrong, but since I haven’t seen most of the new set live, I’m looking forward to it anyway!

Last time didn't flop but then the new one was a good album.

Loads from the first couple of albums would flop badly though, as their attempt to play Everything's Not Lost way back in 2011 shows. Also when they did Politik at Wembley, nobody was interested

If you're a Coldplay fan, you'll love the current tour set as it flows really well. though even as a massive fan myself I do personally think the new album is quite poor (and not playing Humankind is a weird one as its probably one of two songs I actually like on it!)

I was a fan of the first 4 albums, then drifted away and completely ignored them! Started digging into the subsequent 5 records in preparation for their headline set and surprised myself by discovering I love what they are currently playing! Can’t wait to see them, expect a completely different experience to the last time I saw them live (which was 2011 at the same place!). Lost! and Yes were my favourite songs on Viva la Vida, don’t expect Yes to get an airing but Lost! would be great! I can’t see myself listening to the most recent album that much in the future, but I think the songs included work well in the current set (people of the pride seems to be the God put a smile on your face replacement for upping the tempo after a quieter run and I suspect it works well in the field/stadium…ok, it’s a bad Muse knockoff, but sure so are Muse these days! 😁). The other big hits post-album 4 are great (don’t know how I missed most of them, but I really had checked out completely from listening to Coldplay…actually hadn’t even heard Adventure of a Lifetime, Hymn for the Weekend or Something just like this prior to a couple of months ago!). Really can’t wait!!

Just checked the setlists for 2011 and 2016 and Monsieur Duck de Toilette is absolutely correct, 6 from their current album in 2011, 7 in 2016.  I remember both as being crowd pleasing sets, so clearly the new songs didn't detract on those occasions.

I guess I might have to give the new record another spin.  I listened to it once on the day it came out, was not impressed and never played it again.  The previous record (Everyday life) however I really enjoyed.

Might be a couple of tweaks for Glastonbury especially if they’ve got any guests but this will be pretty much it. I’d love to see Every Teardrop of Magic back in at the expense of a couple of new album tracks. Feel like it loses momentum a bit after Sky Full of Stars.

True. The big run there for a lot of the crowd will be People of the Pride to Sky Full of Stars. Whiney acoustic guitar music will be well catered for elsewhere so I can’t see them going back to the first 2 albums much.

I hope they don't... I want to hear a good mix of their new stuff and older stuff, and to be honest, I don't understand why Glastonbury veterans would only want their old stuff... Surely you've had all of that, too many times?
