Quite impressive people can tell from a few metres away the difference between cocaine, ketamine and MDMA

I’ve led a sheltered life. I have notice a lot more open taking of drugs from car keys recently. And my #1 concern with regard to this growing trend?? ‘What if they lose their car keys while at the festival’

We were just outside the tent and had arrived quite early.  As soon as the former act finished it was like a tidal wave of coked up w*nkers just rolled in.  Stewards tried to close the field but were ignored, people just pushed them out of the way.  When they eventually did manage to restrict access, they started climbing over fences, stalls etc. to get in.  It was complete carnage.  By the time they were 2-3 songs in it turned really ugly.  Saw 2 fights break out due to young idiots trying to push forwards with nowhere to go.  We bailed.

My comment about too many people and backdoors was aimed at getting into the festival in general rather than that particular gig.

Didn't mean to start a verbal riot in here lol.

Saw a mass of people after the fireworks one year completely ignore the stewards in Stone Circle not to take the exits on the left to and to head for the bottom. They were just overwhelmed by numbers and were just pushed past with cries of, "Remember Hillsborough". Cue crushed tents near the paths in Pennards.

2022 had issues with crowd control across the board. Last year was much better.

That Bicep show on the Thursday is gonna be chocka though. They've just released a tune under the name "Dove" as well.

will be against some other big stuff e.g. skream benga to spread crowds a bit

It really isn't in the end 😂

What are we saying then now we have the full line up out? I think Barry and Doves aside, it's a pretty good effort! Justice might be completely jam packed though (I can't tell if they're as big outside of this place though, my mates who love electonric stuff didn't all know them...)

quite old post im quoting but it shocked me!

nsane to say this, they are one of the largest dance acts in the world thats not in the shite EDM category. always going to do well at festivals when their sets are a party

Critically acclaimed for years - not some joke acts. There's a reason why people are still excited for them this year when they are against acts such as The National who are darlings on here etc

Are justice genuinely "one of the largest dance acts in the world not in the shite edm category"? Who else do you put in this genre? Do you think likes of Fred again and Barry can't swim are in the edm category, or not? Justice's new album charted at 34 this year in the UK.

What does EDM stand for?

EDM does in fact stand for Electronic Dance Music, but confusingly, it doesn't cover all electronic dance music, certainly not over here, at least. It was a reintroduced term in the US when the genre exploded in the late 00s, thanks to the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Aoki, Garrix, etc. If you were to use the term "EDM" in Europe, you'd be referring to the likes of the aforementioned artists, a very accessible, radio-friendly, big-arena sound, as opposed to any of the other sub-genres, like techno, drum & bass, house, ambient, etc, etc

This. Most of us don't really like 'EDM' 😂

Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, Prodigy.

Eric Prydz and Fred Again maybe - although both lean into the shite edm a bit

Bicep in the UK but not globally.

maybe a few more i can't think of right now, but yeah one of the largest seems about right to me 🙂

Agreed on the definition and understanding described above of EDM. "landfill dance music" would be a comparable term with similar derogatory connotations.

With specific reference to Justice, I would be concerned if I said to a proper dance music expert that I really liked Justice, it would be a bit like Alan partridge quoting "the best of the Beatles" as his favourite Beatles album.

I can't get over the whole Justice thing being quite cartoony with more than a hint of the "presentation" that EDM acts are mocked for (the lights, the Marshall amps, the inverted cross). I'm also a DJ at weddings and parties and can confirm Justice repeatedly fail to do the business. Before anyone says it's not music for grannies, I'm typically booked by couples who don't want the usual wedding shite. A few months ago I played a set including (off the top of my head) Justice, chems, daft punk, faithless, some oakenfold, "strings of life", Fred Again.. It was Justice (and only Justice) that cleared the floor.

Which tune did you play? "D.A.N.C.E." has done the biz for me when playing out. Thats some hooky gear right there.

Also, think youre being a bit tough on them. I'd frown at any so-called dance music expert that would have dabb€d down (did i do it right?) on their 2017 performance at the G. Discog and live show is deffo ahead of Faithless. Id put them ahead of Leftfield also tbh. Id have them back over Prodigy or Chems this year. Fresher.

Im not skilled/brave enough to drop Phantom pt 2 but sweet baby jesus what a choon.

I guess its all down to opinion but would say Justice are very popular on these parts and critically acclaimed

DANCE is the only one I'd dare to try and it consistently gets a lukewarm reception. I'm being a bit unclear saying "faithless" as I suppose we all know I mean "insomnia". Chems, prodigy, daft punk have multiple songs to choose from, each of  which have done the dancefloor business at different times. From memory Justice didn't have a lot up against them in 2017 at Glastonbury, not for anyone who wanted anything "edgy" anyway. I'm sure it was good fun but I had seen them at Primavera in 2013 and, while it was a great laugh in the moment with the bass and the lights, I didn't think I was seeing something with huge longevity or creative significance.

I think their absence at Primavera Porto really highlighted the lack of depth of the bill. It's a fest that seems to be going backwards. primavera Barcelona in 2022 withstood, bill-wise at least, the strokes AND massive attack cancelling.

Justice cancelled at Primavera Porto and seems to have kinda wrecked the weekend.

It seems that the festival had issues with weather / the stage and so they had to cancel - not 100% sure

It seems at the end of the day your just not a fan of Justice, which is completely fine 🙂

Second time doing WH, headlining Field Day (45k) in London. Clearly they are popular and Cross has stood the test of time.

Now the full line up is out, I'd say Greenpeace/Strummerville on the Thursday afternoon will be a huge draw.  Strummerville particularly.  Think I'll swerve it.
