internetjef
My understanding was Dexys were just playing loads of new stuff and shunning the old stuff. however some recent setlists suggest they may be splitting the sets into new stuff first with ‘classics’ to follow If looking at an afternoon park slot are we expecting Geno, Jackie Wilson says and come on Eileen? Or none of the the above?
Neil
i saw dexy's in the acoustic tent about 5 years ago, i can't really remember what songs they did, but think there were some oldies at the end - the thing i do remember is how stunning i found Kevin's voice to be. i enjoyed them hugely. if you think this is your thing go along i doubt you'll be disappointed.
CaledonianGonzo
It won't be a pure hits set - I'd expect a good chunk of material from the album that came out last year.
Monty Pythagoras
Mix of both but I'll land if my schedule's free for the big oldies. Be a good sing along in the sunshine hopefully.
The Red Telephone
Looking at some 2023 vids, they sound good! Searching For The Young Soul Rebels has one of the best starts to an album ever.

internetjef
Yeah I had a look at set lists but they are long format shows. Prob only getting 10 tunes max on an earlier park slot so wasn’t sure if the old classics would get cut in favour of the newer stuff, vice versa, or a combo must admit haven’t listened much to newer stuff but happy to give a a few tracks a go if I get geno / Jackie Wilson and come on Eileen scattered in to the set

internetjef
No festival slots before glasto so might be difficult to get much of a steer on shorter setlist before they play

Robofish
I saw them last year in Brighton. The new album has a few decent tunes, so I’m sure there will be 4 or 5 from that. They’d be mad to drop Geno, Eileen, Jacky Wilson and Until I Believe In My Soul, which were all stunning.

Gnomicide
It will be more hits based than their more recent gigs would indicate.

I’ve never seen them play and I do have misgivings but just 3-4 of their classics would be enough for me to go.

Apparently their decision to play their new album in full at the start of their Acoustic Headline set went down........poorly.

Turn up 20 mins from the end and you might be OK - looked at recent set lists which backed up my thoughts after I had the misfortune to be at their 2014 Acoustic Tent set. Hopefully they play 'proper' versions of the classics too and not some weird jazz type version

TBH in the few recent videos I've seen, they have stayed faithful to the originals.

Yoghurt on a Stick
Listening to Geno gives me goosebumps. Also, I have never been able to understand some of the lyrics sang because Kevin Rolan's voice doesn't make them clear. As an aside, one of my brothers mates was in a shop with his mom in Birmingham (back in the day) and Kevin Rowland walked into the shop. My brothers mate mentioned that fact to his mom. His Irish mother then thought that her son knew Kevin Rowland, so went up to Kevin and asked him if he wanted her to repair all the holes in his jeans.
